Question of the Day - 04 July 2020

Q:

Happy Independence Day

A:

On July 2, 1776, the Second Continental Congress voted in favor of approving a resolution for independence from Britain. Two days later, delegates from the 13 colonies signed the Declaration of Independence, drafted by Thomas Jefferson. Of course, the new United States had to prevail over the reigning superpower of the day in the lengthy, costly, and bitter Revolutionary War, which it did.

Today, we're involved in a different kind of conflict against an enemy that's invisible. And though the ongoing battle is, by all measures, lengthy, costly, and bitter, if we keep the faith, do what's right, and remember that we're fighting for our independence from an oppressor, like our forefathers and foremothers, we will triumph. Failure is not an option.

So Happy Declaration of Independence Day, everyone. This Thing too shall pass and we'll be free (from it) again.

    Yep!
We WILL throw off the yoke of that scourge that has spread so much sickness and death in our country: conservatism.

We'll also get rid of "reality TV," but one thing at a time. Happy Fourth, everyone--the last one during a brief period in our history that will forever be known as "The Dark Times."

another enemy being fought by most of us (hopefully!)
I would add the enemy of racism, which lately has been proven to be one of the biggest enemies to our United States being truly united and which is often invisible as well. Hopefully we will also defeat that enemy so that we can all truly claim to be equal as the constitution states.
