A day to remember the Culinary Union
From a comment above, it seems most Vegas casino workers prefer the day off to spend with their families rather than make an extra $300 by working on a big holiday.

This is testament to the Culinary Union's success in realizing financial security for its members.

Can you imagine how the powers that be in the casino industry -- whether the mob or the current corporate bean counters -- would have ruthlessly exploited a labor force of unskilled and semi-skilled workers, many first generation Americans speaking little or no English, without The Culinary? One doesn't even want to think about that.

    God bless the Culinary Union!!!

    oops
I meant to post the above comment in yesterday's QoD: "Do hotel/casino employees get paid extra for working on Thanksgiving day, Christmas day, or other holidays?"

As others have complained, the QoD comments should have an edit/delete function found in almost all other forums.
