Can you give us a progress report on the construction of the Hard Rock at the site of the old Mirage?
We're still in the early stages of the transformation of the Mirage into the Hard Rock Las Vegas, but construction is progressing steadily and things are starting to take shape.
Mainly, the rounded "lower bout" of the guitar tower is rising floor by floor and the bottom 10 or so levels are enclosed with blue-tinted windows. Groundwork is ongoing on the pool areas. The existing gold-hued tri-tower Mirage hotel is undergoing a full interior remodel and out-of-view work continues on the floor of the casino, restaurants, retail areas, and entertainment venues.
No major delays have been reported from the largest active construction project on the Strip and it's reportedly on budget.
The Guitar Hotel will be 660 feet tall and is slated to open, along with the rest of the Hard Rock, sometime toward the end summer or early fall of 2027. Currently, the cost of the the project is estimated at between $4 billion and $5 billion; at the upper limit, it will be nearly 10 times what the Mirage cost 35 or so years ago.
