Question of the Day - 11 August 2025

Q:

We haven't been to Vegas in almost a year and are wondering how the Hard Rock is coming along?

A:

We assume that this question comes from someone who remembers that the Mirage closed roughly a year ago.

We can report that the Hard Rock site is teeming with heavy construction equipment, piles of materials, and workers and the opening date in the early fourth quarter (between Columbus Day and Veterans Day or so) of 2027 is still not only on schedule, but within the budget as well. That's all the more remarkable, given tariffs, increased labor costs, and financial-market turmoil.

We've heard some rumors that the scope of the project has been reduced, but a recent story in the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported that it has actually expanded. The Guitar Hotel has gone from 600 rooms and suites to 675, the pool complex has grown by nearly half, and the spa is tripling in size.

And that could change again as the grand opening gets closer; Hard Rock executives are still in the process of defining "dining concepts, the entertainment lineup, and other guest experiences." Look for more updates with futher details "at appropriate junctures.”

    Wait...
"on schedule, but within the budget as well."? Someone needs to straighten them out, that's not how you do things in Vegas!

    Hard Rock
I'm excited about it, we can all dream that an independent will come in and force Mgm and Caesars to compete.

    Means Nothing to Me
Like the rest of the Strip, I have no interest in this casino.

Status of Golden Gate MR coupons
With Golden Gate going to all electronic table games (I must of missed that news!) what will happen to the two gambling coupons for GG? I always thought those were two of the best coupons in the book.

    Funny
Funny how projects that do not involve taxpayer money are always on budget and on time

Then why would you not only read the QOD but also take the time to comment on it LOL.

    GG
I could always count on GG for an insult.

Their is a difference between an insulting dealer and a tough dealer. The D has good dealers. Circa has good dealers.

Inflation, not Tariffs. "Financial market turmoil". Fact check time.
You: "That's all the more remarkable, given tariffs, increased labor costs, and financial-market turmoil."

Grok: "From 2021 to 2024, inflation was the primary driver of building cost increases, with material prices like steel, lumber, and concrete rising significantly due to supply chain issues and demand pressures. In 2025, new tariffs, particularly on steel, aluminum, and lumber, have added to cost pressures, but their impact is secondary to inflation’s broader effect.

    You: "Increased market turmoil".

Brave AI search result: "Yes, the U.S. stock market is currently near record highs. As of August 8, 2025, the Nasdaq Composite closed at a record high of 21,450.02, marking a 0.98% gain for the day and a 3.9% increase for the week.
The S&P 500 also finished very close to its all-time high, ending at 6,389.45—just slightly below its peak.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 44,175.61, contributing to a strong weekly performance across all major indices."

I have and will read the Question of the Day whenever I log in to the LVA. I will respond whenever I have something to say. I do wonder why my action of commenting and responding is of any business of yours. I don't believe that whatever I say - or whatever anyone else says - should morph into being the focus of the daily question. I suggest that you should try to stay on topic. Now to address your off topic questions (1) I read the QOD for the information given and (2)when I fell like responding, it takes whatever time it takes. Hopefully, I have answered your questions.

    Competition
The best news in what LV needs…. Competition! As for the some ridiculous comments here, some need to grow up.
