I am a hot and sour soup fanatic. I will try anything recommended. What is the best in Vegas in your opinion?
We're not fanatics, so we can't in all good conscience identify the best in Vegas.
But we too like hot and sour soup, which is made with Chinese chicken stock and water, then cooked with some combination of pork, mushrooms, tofu, bamboo shoots, usually an egg, oil (toasted sesame is preferred), ginger, red chile paste, soy sauce, vinegar, a bit of cornstarch as a thickener, and chopped chives and cilantro as garnish.
Generally, our go-to place for H&S soup is Ping Pang Pong at the Gold Coast. It's right around the corner from our office, so it's very convenient, and it's open till 3 a.m. Mon.-Saturday, so it's a great late-night play for a hearty bowl.
We also like the H&S at China Poblano, a José Andrés eatery at the Cosmo.
And the H&S at Lotus of Siam has more of a Thai than Chinese flair, but boy, is it good.
We haven't tried it, but we hear the H&S at Mott 32, an upscale Chinese restaurant at the Venetian, is worth going for.
What say y'all? Got a favorite hot and sour soup in Las Vegas?
