Question of the Day - 30 September 2022

Q:

Not sure if I've seen this question or if I have, it's been a while. Any casinos have a laundromat in them?

A:

We've answered this question a few times over the years and as far as we know, still no major Las Vegas hotel-casinos have laundry facilities for guests.

Of course, most, if not all, offer laundry-valet and dry-cleaning options, including one-hour and overnight service, but these can get pricey.

In our most recent answer from a couple of years ago, we identified a few cleaning services that pick and up and deliver laundry without having to go through the hotel. But we wrote, "We have to warn you: These places know how much the hotels charge. That means they're less expensive, but not by much."

If you have a car, plenty of self-service laundromats are within easy driving distance of the casinos. Bring quarters.

    Tuscany has one!
The Tuscany Casino has a laundromat. Anyone that's been there knows they have different buildings that their rooms are in, and the laundromat is next to the fitness center. There are 3 washers and 3 dryers. You can get change and wash powder/dryer sheets from the gift shop.

Thinking outside the box, don't the RV parks associated with casinos have laundromats? Might be worth the effort depending on how desperate you are.

    No quarter asked or given
Back in the old days of Vegas, the Golden Commode had a laundromat. I went in there with an armload of dirty clothes, but every machine was full and there was a big hulking guy standing next to them and scowling at me. Of course, he was laundering cash.

    guilty pleasure
I am probably the only LVAer who utilizes hotel laundry/dry cleaning services, especially for a longer stay. I might send 1-3 items.

Of course I don't send drawers and bras and hankies and socks, and bridal gowns, etc., those things that can be washed out in the sink (except the bridal gowns-LOL).

It is another convenience that I budget for, and not really so much higher than the same service at home. And... I don't have to remember to drive to the cleaners on a certain day/time to pick things up.

Actually, Febreeze is my go-to more often now. And now that many fewer people are smoking I don't stink so much after a day of casino-ing anyway.

    Frugal travel idea
One of the travel websites I read suggests packing your older and worn underwear, tshirts, socks for a trip, stuff you're close to throwing out anyway. Then at the end of each day of your trip discard the dirty items rather than pack them to bring back home. This reduces you suitcase contents when you head home, makes room for souvenirs you pick up on the trip and you get rid of items you're going to be throwing away soon anyway..

    Wash / Fluff and Fold
I can go 3 weeks in vegas with 1 backpack. half way through I just hit a laundromat and drop off my clothes. usually runs about $25. pick up same or next day. There's a good one by Bravo Taco just off paradise.

    The PLAZA used to
The PLAZA in downtown is a major hotel/casino, and their south hotel tower had a self-serve laundry room that functioned like a laundromat. It's been many years since I stayed there, but I believe it was located on the 6th or the 10th floor. They should be able to tell you if you call them.

    Vdara and Platinum
Both have washers/dryers in the rooms of their largest (I believe 900sqft) rooms
