Question of the Day - 09 September 2020

Q:

We live in Summerlin and were downtown yesterday on our way to a law office in an area we rarely go to (around the Arts District) when we passed a construction project on Coolidge Avenue just off Commerce. It looks like it'll be a five story hotel, if the size of the rooms are any indication, but we couldn't find anything about it online. Do you know what it is?

A:

Yes we do and your supposition is correct: It's a boutique hotel called Hotel Cloé, though it will have only four stories of rooms.

The 74-room development is on Coolidge Avenue between Main and First streets, a block north of Charleston.

According to the website, the Cloé is "following a new worldwide trend toward lean-luxury, service-focused, 4-star resorts." Paying homage to the neighborhood, the aesthetic will be "cozy and minimal, yet modern," with "programming rich in art and culture." Constructed mainly of steel and glass, lush greenery will pervade the hotel, bar and restaurant, and poolside areas. Our hotel will be  and concrete, with a design-aesthetic

San Diego-based ZLife Company, which "focuses on building unique and authentic hotel and residential across secondary markets, with the first flagship hotel in the Las Vegas Arts District," is behind the project, which was estimated to cost $20 million when it was announced in 2018. It looks to us like the project is a bit behind schedule, no doubt due to the shutdown; the website still says "Coming Spring 2020."

Still, the building is definitely going up and we expect to hear more about it soon. We'll report on it as we do.
