Why are so many hotel gift shops named Essentials? Does a 3rd party run them?
We searched high and low, far and wide, hither and yon, and the closest we could find to a company called Essentials produces the "streetwear diffusion line from American luxury brand Fear of God" founded in 2018. Hardly a sundries-shop provider.
We can only surmise that "essentials" is simply a common, broad, descriptive term for a hotel convenience store and doesn't denote a single company.
We note that at least six casinos have Essentials in their gift shop names: Bellagio Essentials, Harrah's Essentials, The LINQ Essentials, Golden Nugget Essentials, and Circa Essentials; before it closed, there was also a Mirage Essentials. We figure that the versatility of the word creates the coincidental overlap in these names.
As for third parties, many hotels run their own necessities shops, but many also outsource inventory and staffing to specialized vendors rather than managing them in-house. Hudson Group is one, the same company that runs all the Hudson News shops in airports. ABC Stores of Hawaii (with 900+ locations) operates some Vegas gift shops.
And Hotel Retail Group, according to its website, services "thousands of hotel locations" via its Hotel Pantry program. It doesn't appear that they lease the stores like Hudson; rather, they supply products to them. No doubt they supply hotel gift shops throughout Nevada.
