I often hear on the YouTube videos Anthony talking about Huntington Press. I understand that's the name you use on the books you publish. But what's the relationship between Huntington Press and the Las Vegas Advisor? And where does the name Huntington Press come from?
Huntington Press is the name of the company that publishes the Las Vegas Advisor and LasVegasAdvisor.com and all the books. So the relationship boils down to Huntington Press being the parent company of the Las Vegas Advisor.
The name Huntington comes from Huntington Beach, California, where Anthony was passing the time as a high school wrestling coach until he was old enough to gamble in the casinos in Las Vegas, where he was planning to move as soon as he turned 21.
He liked to hang out at Huntington Beach, often reading books on blackjack. The way he tells it, he read everything he could get his hands on about gambling and Las Vegas. Many gambling books were available at the time, plus a well-known gambling newsletter called Rouge et Noir, but other than the mostly out-of-date Fodor's and Frommer's travel guides, it was nearly impossible to find anything about the city itself. On the beach, he considered the idea of starting his own monthly newsletter about the fast-changing scene in Vegas.
His impression that Las Vegas needed a newsletter was not only confirmed, but amplified, when he relocated from southern California and a few years later, he resurrected the concept. The name Las Vegas Advisor was borrowed from the Playboy Advisor, but he needed a name for the publishing company itself. He had no idea what to call it, but the thought that came most quickly to mind was the beach where the idea first took hold. Thus, he named the company Huntington Press.
