Many years ago, Americans made a choice: to be free of oppression. They won it with the blood of 70,000 patriots. On this day, we celebrate the "Liberty" in Thomas Jefferson's famous quote in the Declaration of Independence and the price paid to "win" that liberty in the quote from labor-union and civil-rights activist A. Philip Randolph.

When the British started charging resort fees, that was the last straw. A band of brave patriots dumped some slot machines into Boston Harbor and the rest, as they say, is history.
