Question of the Day - 30 October 2020

Q:

Which, if any, strip clubs are open? Not for nothing, but the strip clubs in Portland, OR are open and giving lap dances.

A:

[Editor's Note: Arnold Snyder has been the content manager of our sister site ToplessVegasOnline.com for nearly seven years. As such, he knows more about the strip clubs in Sin City than probably anyone in the world. Naturally, we asked him to answer this question.]

Six Las Vegas strip clubs are open as bikini bars with COVID restrictions, meaning that occupancy levels are limited by social-distancing requirements. Tables and barstools are farther apart and guests and employees must wear masks. Guests can get around the mask requirement by purchasing a drink. If you’re drinking, no mask is required.

All clubs are operating as bikini bars/lounges. Dancers must wear bikinis and do not get topless or bottomless on stage. No lap dances out in the audience are permitted.

The six clubs that are open as bikini bars are Palomino Club, Déjà Vu Showgirls, Hustler Club, Centerfolds, Chicas Bonitas, and Play It Again Sam. All have been operating seven nights a week. You might find dancers who will do private shows in some of the clubs. On the other hand, some clubs have very few dancers (or none). Drink prices in some clubs are higher than normal.

The best stage show is still at Palomino Club, which is Las Vegas’ premier nude club (and the only nude club in Vegas that serves alcohol). Though the Palomino is disallowed from featuring nude dancing, gorgeous and talented dancers in skimpy bikinis are plenty entertaining. Palomino is open nightly 6 p.m. till 5 a.m., and till 7 a.m. on Friday and Saturday night.

Sapphire, the largest strip club in the country, hasn't reopened as a bikini bar, but has been opening its outdoor pool Fridays to Sundays from noon to 6 p.m. On Mondays, they’ve been hosting Monday Night Football parties in the pool area. This past Monday, due to the cold weather, they moved the MNF party indoors to their showroom. As I’m not expecting the weather to get better, this may indicate that they’ll start moving the pool party indoors on the weekends also (sans pool). I guess we’ll see.

Nevada's governor has given no indication regarding when the Vegas strip club scene might return to normal. All clubs were shut down in mid-March. Just in the last month, bars were permitted to reopen, so a handful of strip clubs have reopened as bars. Strip clubs in many other states have reopened, some with lap dancing, but it’s always up to the governor.

Lawsuits are pending in Nevada to end the shutdowns, but I’ve heard they’re stalled in the courts and going nowhere. It’s not a great time to visit Vegas. This is a party town -- where parties have been banned.

    Brothels
I’m kind of surprised there was no mention of the brothels. It’s my understanding that they are still completely shut down. Is that true?

    Is Arnold ok?
I am being serious. I think he does a great job on his site and he is certainly entitled to his own political views, but yikes. He has posted a lot of "black helicopter-secret society-conspiracy" posts on his site that has nothing to do with his usual content.

    I don't get the bikinis
The no-lap-dance thing I get, but I don't get the bikinis, since you can't catch covid through skin. Unless watching naked women gets men to breath heavier and that potentially puts more covid particles in the air. But I assume they will breathe heavy seeing a woman in a bikini as well so what's the point? Especially if everyone is wearing a mask...

    Gov Sisolak
There are at least FOUR recall movements in the works:

    Government regulations
True that not being topless makes very little sense but then there are many Government regulations that don't always make sense.

    hmm
This is good information to know, however I take his views on the Palomino with a huge grain of salt. Hes super all over them, but i've found it to be nothing but hype. Im willing to get he gets kickbacks.

    Arnold is delusional
@Kevin - I've enjoyed his site over the years but yeah now it's a lot of tin foil hat stuff with some QAnon sprinkled in. It reads like The Onion. It's a joke.

    Kickbacks
@Tom, Arnold definitely receives kickbacks. He's pushing Palomino and guess what, there are Palmonino ads on the site. He used to push Little Darlin's and there was a Little Darlin's ad/coupon on the site. It's not there anymore and he switched to pushing the club that has ads.

Use that site for info such as cover charge, drink prices, etc... but don't use it for the opinions.

    Arnold
I remember this Arnold Snyder answering QoDs about certain casino games (I don't remember which one or ones) and routinely insulting questioners with snide sarcasm and lobbing insults about commenters' intelligence. He was called-out on this by commenters and eventually cleaned up his act probably after warnings from Anthony Curtis to cut it out.

So now I see he is an authority on strip clubs. Figures. Strip club owners, managers, cab drivers on the take from the clubs, the "dancers" themselves, and almost everyone else involved in the industry, are the sleaziest bunch of people you're likely to encounter outside of a state prison.

But don't get me wrong. I don't have a moral, religious, or ethical objection to adult entertainment. Only to the sleaze balls who seem to populate it.

    Contradiction
There's a contradiction about the Palomino that nobody else pointed out, so I will. First,he says "Palomino Club . . . is Las Vegas’ premier nude club (and the only nude club in Vegas that serves alcohol)." Then he says "the Palomino is disallowed from featuring nude dancing." So which is it? If they can't and don't have nude dancing, then they are not a nude club now.

    Goodness gracious ..
... where's your control over the editorial content at TLV? Reeks of inferred consent and approval. You guys are really walking too fine of a line here to let quackery like this go unchecked.
