I recently saw the movie The Last Days of Capitalism. It must have been filmed in Las Vegas; it looked to me like it had to be at Palms Place. Can you confirm this? (Sure had a nice balcony.) I wonder how long it took them to film the movie.
Sorry, but no, we can't confirm where The Last Days of Capitalism was shot. But it's not for the lack of trying.
If you look at the film’s Internet Movie Database page, you'll see a still from movie that shows the Palms from a high-angle perspective that can only be from Palms Place. However, the movie seems to be a cause of some embarrassment to the Palms. Its spokespeople ran and hid when we queried them multiple times. So did the Nevada Film Office, which we also called repeatedly. Former Palms' owner Station Casinos pleaded ignorance and company spokesman Alexander Acuna, who used to work at the Palms, had never even heard of the movie.
All of this raises the possibility that The Last Days of Capitalism was a guerrilla shoot, done without permits in the tradition of Leaving Las Vegas. We certainly can’t imagine that Las Vegas, which has played host to shoots for things as seamy as promiscuity-promoting Love Island (lensed at The Cromwell) is blushing to have played host to a movie about “a complex affair over 72 hours in a Las Vegas penthouse.” But whoever knows the skinny on this scantily clad shoot, they ain’t talkin'.
