Question of the Day - 06 September 2023

Q:

Have there been any rumblings about where the casino-hotel Loop stations will be located? In other words, will they be within reason or WAY out back, like the Monorail stations are?

A:

Score one for reason.

One of the primary selling points for the Boring Company's Las Vegas Loop subterranean transportation system is that the stations will be located on or near the Las Vegas Strip, not way out yonder like the ill-fated Monorail’s. It’s still relatively early days for the Loop, as far as construction goes, but this is what we’ve learned about the first three hotel-casino Loop stations.

Westgate Las Vegas: This will be located in the front of the resort, near the current valet-parking station.

Encore: Completed July 12 with a projected inception of service in the first three months of next year, this one is “conveniently located near the existing Encore valet entrance, providing guests with a zero-emissions underground public-transportation alternative.”

Resorts World Las Vegas: The first resort to hop on the Loop bandwagon, Resorts World’s now-operational station is located within The District, across from the giant globe and near the Hilton porte cochere. Says PR representative Tyler Green, “An escalator takes guests into the entrance of the tunnels.”

Although the Loop is still evolving and the overall map is somewhat vague, it’s clear that accessibility has been a key concern. Given the siting of the Resorts World, Encore, and Westgate stations, that concern is obviously being met, at least so far.

    not out yonder way--yay!
Watch out, you'll raise the ire of those who object anything Southern-sounding. Or, at least, I always thought "out yonder" belonged to us redneck evil Southerners. LOL

Glad the Boring Company realized the 'back of the house' mistake made with the monorail stations. Good info on the current and evolving plans. Thanks.

I've never understood the monorail criticism
The monorail stations are no further from the casino than the parking garages. In many casinos connected to the monrail you have to pass the monorail entrance on your way to the garage. And no one complains about the garages.

In most cities attractions aren't connected to the subway.

Proves they could have put the Monorail along Las Wages Blvd.. I loved the monorail. At 81, I wish I could walk from a Hotel to the monorail...Candy---It's "down yonder" is south.

    oh, yeah
Clifford you are right...down yonder, not out yonder. Shame on me!

As for the Monorail, sometimes you had to ask, and sometimes ask again, which way to the Monrail station at this or that casino. After a time or two, it seemed easier just to walk it rather than.

But I DID actually like viewing the backsides of the casinos as it rolled along.

But then it seemed ya had to walk a mile to get to the casino, or God help you to get to the front door so you could cross the street to get to the casino on the other side of the Strip that you really wanted to visit but thought the Monorail would be faster.

    So there!

    Monorail vs loop
Yeah, the monorail would have been much more useful if it ran down the center of the strip. (And to the airport and downtown, but don’t get me started!) Can’t go center strip and ruin the views, etc.

The loop, being underground, can go center strip without that problem. And then short branches to the stations are a no brainer. 👍
