Question of the Day - 26 October 2019

Q:
Do any or all of the "male revues" in Las Vegas (in which guys get totally naked) ban men from attending their shows? And how do their nude male performers feel about an audience including men instead of being all women?
And at the end of the answer is your link to the results from the downtown-attractions poll.

[Editor's Note: This question went, naturally, to the content manager of our sister website, ToplessVegasOnline, Arnold Snyder.]

To my knowledge, the only male strip show in Las Vegas that ever had totally naked men was at Palomino Club, but that show has not existed for 3-4 years.

The law in Nevada does not allow full nudity in any establishment that serves alcohol. Palomino Club is the exception because they had fully nude shows and a full bar for decades before the law was passed that now prohibits nudity in drinking establishments. So Palomino was grandfathered in as an exception to the law. Unfortunately for fans of male strippers, the club discontinued its male revue and no other bar, nightclub, strip club, or casino showroom that serves alcohol can offer nude dancing (male or female). Palomino now has nude female strippers only.

Palomino’s nude male revue did not allow men. I talked to the guy who was running the show back then and he said he didn’t want men in the audience. But like I say, that show is long gone.

The male revues in the regular strip clubs have been disappearing over the past few years. In addition to Palomino’s nude male revue being canceled, Olympic Gardens used to have a male strip show. But OG closed three years ago and moved into a new building, changing its name to Sophia’s, and its male show (never fully nude) was discontinued when they moved.

The only Vegas strip clubs with male strippers now are Sapphire and Hustler Club. They're not fully nude and both allow male/female couples, though the shows are clearly aimed at a female audience.

A number of the casino showrooms feature male revues, all clearly aimed at a female audience, though couples frequently attend. Chippendales at the Rio, Thunder from Down Under at Excalibur, Aussie Heat at Planet Hollywood, and Magic Mike at the Hard Rock are all regularly attended by couples. Black Magic Live is in the Embassy Nightclub (which at one time was a regular strip club), but it also serves alcohol, so no nudity is allowed.

All of the male revues are primarily stage shows and none prohibit men from attending. The performers at Sapphire and Hustler (the regular strip clubs) come down into the audience and do lap dances for the ladies. In the casino shows, the men stay on stage almost exclusively, but bring female audience members onto the stage to tease them for comic effect.

All of the male revues are more choreographed than the kinds of shows female strippers do in strip clubs. The male revues are comedy shows as much as they're dance performances, with lots of props and costumes involved.

As for how individual male strippers feel about men in the audience, I’m sure they’re used to them being there. I’ve gone to a number of these shows with my wife and we were never the only couple in the audience. Many couples also go to the regular Vegas strip clubs to watch female strippers. It’s Vegas, baby.

Thank you, Arnold. For those of you who'd like to see the interesting results from our poll on favorite things to do downtown, here's the link.

My experience differs from the Advisor answer.
I have been to a few male revues and all of them now allow men. Black Magic Live didn't when it started, but after backlash they changed policy.

How much interacting male audience will get will depend on the performers. I have had most ignore me pretty much 100% and some that gave a lot of attention to me during and after the show.

Aussie Heat is probably the most LGBT friendly as they have attended Las Vegas Pride and pull men up on stage same as women.
