Question of the Day - 09 November 2025

Q:

Any update to or info on the rumors the Marnells are planning a new joint?

A:

Anthony Marnell III, chairman and CEO of Marnell Companies and son of Tony Marnell II (legendary Las Vegas casino architect/developer and chairman emeritus of the firm), is actively planning a new hotel-casino in Henderson.

Tony III is definitely a chip off Tony II's block. His dad's involvement in the Las Vegas casino business goes back 50 years; his past projects include Caesars Palace, Desert Inn, Sands, Stardust, California, Frontier, Dunes, Sundance, Mirage, Rio, Excalibur, Treasure Island, Wynn, and Bellagio.

The proposed resort will occupy about 35 acres on the northeast corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and St. Rose Parkway, directly across from the M, which the Marnell family also developed and opened in 2009, naming it after themselves.

The new property has been announced to feature 600 rooms (starting with 200, then followed by 400 more in phase two), a casino, food hall, pool, lounge, and meeting and banquet spaces. Marnell III would like to break ground in three to five years when the area's growth catches up to his plans. Of course, this positions the as-yet unnamed project to be a direct competitor of the M, which is now owned and operated by Penn Entertainment.

Tony III last year acquired the little Prospector Hotel-Casino in Ely, Nevada.
