Question of the Day - 11 April 2024

Q:

When discussing the “master coupons” in the Member Reward book, Anthony just mentions the Palm’s buffet and Downtown Grand no resort fee. Why doesn’t he feel the coupon for Top of Binion’s steakhouse belongs at the same level? The potential value is phenomenal, since it’s valid for 25% off the entire bill (food and beverages).

A:

Yes, our coupon for Top of Binion's is another excellent one.

The reason it's not necessarily a "master" coupon is that it doesn't automatically pay for the cost of the LVA membership with one use. Because the Palms coupon is good for up to $64.99 for the lobster dinner buffet, that's cost-plus. The resort fee at Downtown Grand is $39.55, so two nights (few visitors stay for only one) pay back the membership fee and then some.

For Top of Binion's, the tab has to come to $200 for the 25%-off coupon to recoup the $50 fee. Yes, the potential is there for a major splurge and a $50-plus saving, but a couple ordering, say, two appetizers ($40), a salad ($15), chicken and pasta ($99) or even scallops and salmon ($110), and a dessert ($15), a lot of food, are still coming up a little short of the mark.

All that said, Anthony tells us, "Plenty will recoup their membership fee with twenty-five-percent off at Binion's steakhouse, so from now on, I'll promote it, too, as a master coupon. Thanks for the suggestion."

IMHO if someone hasn't been to the "Top of Binion's" and the coupon gets them there, that's worth the price of membership no mater what they order. A couple glasses of cheap Bubbly at the Legacy Club enjoying the view , and then a sunset dinner at Top of Binion's Oh Baby!

    Loved TOB
Went to Top of Binion's for the first time last September. If you like old Vegas and good food you will not be disappointed. My waiter was very friendly also as I was the first one in the place and he was only waiting on me! Can't wait for my next visit in September.

    BINION'S
Couple things, Top of Binion's was where I proposed to the wifey, so will always be special. Also, last time we went we just hung out at the bar. The bartender Rene, was hilarious. He was experimenting with Passion fruit drinks (the margarita was amazing that he came up with) so we kind of drank for free, and we joined in on his ongoing battle with the servers, making fun of them and them making fun of us and Rene, for about an hour. It was one of the most entertaining and fun times I have ever had in Vegas. We are going in July, hope Rene still works there.

    LVA coupon book mention
there's a youtube channel "miles to memories vegas" hosted by shawn and mark that has mentioned the great value in the LVA coupon book on several episodes...good show and pretty cool they too see all the value in buying the coupon book and promote it on their 48k subscriber channel...they recommend a coupon run just for the fun of it and that's the way to enjoy it to the max...i have done it and it was fun AND profitable...thx LVA

Coupon lead to new LVA members
Normally go to Top of Binion's with a group. After seeing the discount of over $150 from my LVA coupon, two of my friends decided to become LVA members themselves. I told them the information from the Advisor is worth the subscription fee itself, but how can you go wrong with all the added value of the reward book? It's a no brainer!

    cheap
The Downtown Grand deal is not as good as it's made out to be. When I booked there I had a great room rate with resort fee added and when I tried to use the no resort fee my room rate went way up. Would not let me use the lower rate I had found on their site. So in all over a 5 night stay with their room rate and no resort fee did still save about $69 a far cry from the 5X39.55=$197.75 you promote. That's a $128.75 difference. If a person could use it on the lower rate you can find on their site it would be a great deal.Oh well $69 is still better than nothing.
