Las Vegas has experienced a significant population explosion for the past few decades. What is known about the demographics of metro Las Vegas?
Clark County referred us to the 2020 Census, the most recent one. Yes, it’s three years old, but it’s the best and most recent we’ve got.
At the time of the Census, the Clark County School District encompassed 2,014,651 people. Just under 85% graduated high school, with 26% having a Bachelor's degree or higher.
The median household income was $61,931.
The median age of residents was just over 37, despite the area’s image as a retirement haven. Only 14% of the area’s population is 65 and older.
Just under 23% of the population was foreign-born. As for the language spoken at home, it was 65% English and 35% other (Spanish, Tagalog, and Chinese accounted for 28%).
Of the foreign-born residents, 51% were naturalized U.S. citizens, the rest not. Las Vegas also saw an influx of immigrants from within the U.S., with four and a half percent having moved to Sin City from other states.
Owner-occupied single-family houses accounted for just over half (53.7%), with an average of 2.65 people per household.
Eight percent of Las Vegans are veterans and eighty-nine percent of those are male.
