Question of the Day - 19 March 2026

Q:

I recall a casino being built across St. Rose Parkway from the M in Henderson. Didn’t see anything on Google maps. Is it going up?

A:

Not yet, though judging from several questions we've received lately about this casino, it's eagerly anticipated.

The unnamed property is a project of Anthony Marnell III, chairman and CEO of Marnell Companies and son of Tony Marnell II, the legendary Las Vegas casino architect/developer and chairman emeritus of the firm).

The proposed resort will occupy about 35 acres on the northeast corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and St. Rose Parkway, directly across from the M, which the Marnell family also developed and opened in 2009, naming it after themselves, then selling it to Penn Entertainment in 2011 for $230 million.

The new property has been announced to feature 600 rooms (starting with 200, then followed by 400 more in phase two), a casino, food hall, pool, lounge, and meeting and banquet spaces. Marnell III would like to break ground in three to five years when the area's growth catches up to his plans. Of course, this positions the as-yet unnamed project to be a direct competitor of the M, but by then, ostensibly, the locals market will be big enough to go around.

    Thanks
Thought it would be sooner. Hard to believe M went up fifteen years ago. I remember staying there when it was brand new.

Is it "M" or "The M"?
The website refers to it as "M Resort & Casino," but the URL begins with "them." Why do I have a feeling that it was originally "The M" (similar to "The D" downtown), but changed to prevent people from calling it "THEM Resort"?
