What are the oldest restaurants with a view of the city?
The oldest is one of the oldest restaurants in the city: Top of Binion's Steakhouse. It opened in 1965 with the Mint Hotel-Casino when it was called, appropriately enough, Top of the Mint, being on the top 24th floor of the tower downtown. In 1988 when the Mint was bought by the Binions, it was renamed. Best of all, we have an awesome coupon for Top of Binion's: 25% off your total bill. Excellent food, great views of the city, and a major discount -- a killer combination.
Beyond that, Top of the World at the STRAT opened when the tower did in April 1996. The restaurant on the "108th" floor has the best views of them all, since the room revolves 360 degrees every 80 minutes. Window seats are dear, a $25 upcharge.
VooDoo Steak at the Rio has occupied the "50th" floor (actually the 39th) since 1997 when the Masquerade Tower opened. The restaurant closed after dinner on July 5; when it reopens sometime in October after a $3 million makeover, local celebrity chef James Trees, of Esther's Kitchen fame, will be in charge of operations and the room will be renamed High Steaks.
The Eiffel Tower Restaurant opened in September 1999 on the same day Paris did. It's located on the (actual) 11th floor, overlooking the lake at Bellagio, with a great view of the fountains, Caesars, and Cosmopolitan.
Finally, Vetri Cucina is located on the "56th" (actual 40th) floor of the Ivory Tower at the Palms. Like Voodoo Steak/High Steaks across the street, it offers stunning views of the Las Vegas Strip from south to north. Vetri Cucina opened in November 2018, closed for the pandemic, and reopened in November 2022. Before Vetri, the restaurant in that space was Alizé, which opened with the Palms in 2001 and closed at the end of 2017.
