Question of the Day - 07 September 2022

Q:

Reader Poll: Restaurants that first-timer Vegas visitors shouldn't miss

A:

As described in last week's poll preview, a couple of weeks ago, VegasEater posted its top 12 restaurants for first-time Vegas visitors, most of which were of the upscale, local, or historic variety. We figured we and QoDers could do better and we were gratified by the response, with nearly 40 comments and upwards of 100 suggestions.

Some of the input concerned commenters favorite restaurants, which might not have much to do with first-timers availing themselves of  true classic Vegas dining experiences, so if your suggestion didn't make the cut, that's why.

Still, it's a good long list of choices and you can vote for your picks here

    Not Circus Circus!
Places lie the Peppermill and Hugo's remind me of "old Vegas"; nice choices for bringing back the old vibe. However, I can't bring myself to EVER eat at the Circus Circus Buffet. I was involved in a situation where a pilot on a LAS layover ate there. He got extremely ill (he thinks it was undercooked eggs) and had to be sent home in an Air Ambulance; lost about 1/4th of his body weight from the sickness. Without IV fluids he could have died! Thus, that would be off my list!

    Top is my tops
The experience at the restaurant at the top of the STRAT is one no one should miss. Best time is right before sunset when you can watch Vegas getting dressed up for the night. (The lights turning on) You can catch a glimpse of the jumpers from “ride” above. The first time I saw one I thought I was imaging it. It’s an awesome 360degree experience that I personally tell my first time visiting friends is a must do.
