I might have liked to live in the Las Vegas of about 1970 to 1990....
but not the current version. From my first visit as an adult in 1969, I often considered moving there, but always rejected the idea. Even then I realized that It was great for a few days, but then it got old quickly. Also, even then I sensed that it was slowly morphing into something that I might not like as much--which is exactly what happened. Crowds, traffic, rising prices, timeshare hawkers--but I'll skip the gruesome details.

We still go there now and then, for an occasional weekend and for the WSOP; but we avoid both downtown and the Strip. And now even our favorite off-strip properties are experiencing the deterioration, for example the recent revamping of the comp points policies at several off-strip houses. More and more we find ourselves in Laughlin, the Phoenix area casinos, or the California card rooms.

On the other hand, looking on the bright side, at least I didn't buy that timeshare.
