Question of the Day - 10 February 2021

Q:

Poll Preview: Which hotel-casino(s) and/or attractions are you most looking forward to visiting when they (re)open?

A:

We used to run this poll every year, but those were in the days when we could list at least dozen big openings, sometimes closer to two. This year, we've got all of nine, and four of those are pandemic-related, while the odds against the fifth (The Drew) are steep.

Still, we'd like to know if you're more excited about Virgin, Resorts World, or the Palms and how eagerly you anticipate the Sphere and new Pinball Hall of Fame.

If we've missed anything, please let us know in the comments.

Virgin Las Vegas

Palms

Texas Station

Fiesta Rancho

Fiesta Henderson

Main Street Station

Resorts World

The Drew

MSG Sphere

Pinball Hall of Fame

    My Local Casino
The one I want to reopen most is the Caesars Windsor casino. Great casino, great auditorium and shows. Been closed a year now and may be another year since Canada closed cruise ships also till February 28, 2022.

David -- Thanks for pointing out the lapse of Main Street Station. Added now and all's well (we hope).

    Eastside Cannery
I believe it is also missing from the list. Although, maybe the question needs to be rephrased. Some of these are never going to open (Drew) or are still months away. How about the rumored Majestic Las Vegas? I thought I was going to be really excited about Circa, but when I was in Vegas over New Years, I did not even go to check it out. The need to show ID to get in the door was a turn off. Also, what about Virgin, Bleutech or Atari?

    Virgin
I see that Virgin is on the list it's just that the list is formatted funny.

    Restaurants?
What about a similar poll about restaurants which have been closed/plan to reopen or new ones?

    Pinball Hall of fame
Is the closing of the Pinball Hall of Fame related to COVID or just general financial issues

    Pinball Hall of Fame
Adam, the Pinball HoF had just begun a relocation to its new, larger facility when Covid hit. The total absence of tourists/visitors had been devastating for them. They have a GoFundMe page where they’re trying to raise $200,000 to save them and enable them to complete their move. Will it matter?
Since I only want to patronize casinos that offer good gambling and good value, I wonder if any of the new glitzy joints will be worth visiting. Circa has proved to be an absurd ripoff. I somehow doubt the other new casinos will be any different.

As far as the locals' casinos that are reopening, they're all Stations properties, and they've explicitly stated that they "won't be giving anything away" (corporatespeak for no promotions, no bargains, no good value), so their reopening doesn't excite me, either.

I would LOVE to see if even ONE casino would have the balls--or the brains--to turn itself into Bargain City, even if only for a while. Good games, low limits, cheap food, good players' club, reasonably priced rooms, etc. etc. They'd be MOBBED. The fact that no casino has broken free from the pack and done this strongly suggests collusion.
