Question of the Day - 31 July 2019

1. The pool question might be good.  However I would guess that most people have only visited no more than 5 hotel pools in Vegas.

2&3.  These are the only ones that I think most people would be able to participate.

4. Most people only have 1 or 2 good choices of airline from their home airport (mine being American and Southwest). 

5.  The only shopping I do in Vegas is at Von's to fill up the refrigerator in the condo.  There is nothing in Vegas I can't get at home.  And at home I don't pay sales tax on clothing and only 6% on other things.

6.  It seems like this poll was just done.

With all due respect, omit Anthony Curtis--he already won the last poll. "Previous winners may not run for nomination."  LOL.

Most popular/must do attraction-Hoover Dam, race track, museums, canyons, pinball, neon, bodies, mob museum, shark tank (Bellagio fountains should not allowed, same reason as omitting AC...everybody loves them!).

Like your suggestion for favorite lounges/free entertainment.

Casino lounges for free entertainment is the only one that would interest me personally. I'm not sure knowing which airlines are preferred would be worth knowing for the average person. I can see shopping and pools being of interest to some. I always like the poll that asks us to confess what debauchery we engage in when we're in Vegas vs. home.

1. Pools.  I have been coming to Vegas for 20 years plus and have never visited a pool and could care less.
2. Steakhouses. I would love to see a poll on this subject.
3. Lounges. I am a none drinker and seldom visit a lounge, that said I would be tempted depending on the entertainment.
4. Airlines. I only have 2 choices from my home airport so this is of limited value.
5. Shopping.  I don't shop in Vegas.

Ideas for things to do in a day if a person has a car rental.

Which major Las Vegas restaurants have you dined in and will not return?

1. Airlines--most people don't have that much choice to poll on
2. Pools--most have a favorite but perhaps stay other places due to being comped there
3. Steakhouses would be good--I have my favorite but it would be fun to hear what others thing and why
4. Lounge acts--would be fun to hear what others think also
5. Shopping--it's cheaper for my to shop at home and who wants to shop in Vegas anyway?  Taxes are MUCH higher--I know, I know--some love to shop. . .

And, as Kevin has said, most people have a limited exposure to the choices, but that goes for everything, not just pools. Maybe the scope of "favorite" polls should be the choices of Like it (and how much), Don't like it (also how much) or never been there.

I have only 1 airline I can take (in two jumps)  from Northern CA where I live to Vegas so that's out. I've been going to Vegas with a friend for about 40 years (loved the Stardust!) The only thing I can think of is something I want to do when I take a break such as the sharks, zoo, flower show and whether it's worth the price of admission. also the Ferris wheel, the top of the Eiffel tower, Stupak's tower for the view NOT the rides. etc.

We started coming to Vegas in the 80s and if my husband could answer, he would say, "Best Poker Rooms," as that is all he ever wanted to do.  I would like lounge acts. There used to be a great band in the Palazzo in a lounge near the elevators to the rooms.  Drinks were in the $15 range, so only sat in there for a short time!  I would like to see seldom mentioned, but very entertaining venues like the dolphin habitat and zoo at the Mirage, or the bird area at the Flamingo.  Pools, not so much, as one can sit in the sun at home.  Steakhouses?  We're from Texas and we have excellent steakhouses here. As we grew older, we came to Vegas to gamble a little and relax a lot.   

None of those polls do much for me. I would prefer a poll of subscribers of their favorite coupon (or type of coupon) from the LVA Members Reward Booklet.

Only one of these interests me: free lounge acts. I don't pick a hotel for its pool, don't shop much if at all, only take one airline [Allegiant], and don't much care who the most influential people are.

As none of those options would be of any interest to me, how about favorite things to do/see while in Vegas (outside of shows, eating, drinking and gambling)

I would like to see one on what players clubs people find most appealing and useful

Would like to see on poll on safety. As a single person I would like to know which hotels do you stay at because of feeling safe and why. 
As to the other suggested polls, I don't go to pools, many more other things to do in Las Vegas. Don't drink but eat at mostly buffets and coffee shops.Fly only Southwest from Chicago as Midway Airport is convenient. I do shop the malls, mostly the fancy ones and dream. As to influential people, I thought your last poll covered the people I knew of. Your welcome, thanks for asking.  

The only poll listed that interests me is the one on steakhouses. But I don't think we should merely go after what the best steakhouses are, but also, which ones give the best and most food for the amount of $$ spent. It seems that the same names come up over and over as to the best steakhouses, but they're too expensive for most folks to eat at. Meanwhile, the steakhouse at Circus Circus never gets mentioned with the highest-rated places, but its value used to be the best because it didn't cost too much. So I think the poll needs to ask 2 questions:  What are the best steakhouses, and which ones offer the greatest value?

5. Airlines -- Regular visitors probably wouldn't gain much knowledge from such a poll.  I have a choice between an el cheapo that isn't at all convenient, one of the legacy airlines with no direct flights, or SWA with reasonable direct flights but from a more distant airport (usually the winner).

My wife and visit both Nordstrom Rack stores in LV area since we do not have one in south Texas. On our way there and back we drop in to local casinos and gamble some and sometimes have a meal.

Steakhouses, cheap buffets, gourmet buffets.

It seems there's always something to read about the preliminary choices given so I agree with many of the comments already made.  While I doubt it could be in the form of a reader's poll, why not spice it up a little with questions where reader's can give their actual experiences - it would make for interesting reading and would give some specifics as to the choices made. Something where people can give their own comments.  Examples - which casino do you visit where you feel most valued and what do they do to make you feel that way; what upscale restaurant have you been to that appears to value you as a customer (and what did they do to deserve the kudo).  What upscale restaurant is actually worth the money they charge for their food and give specifics on what food you had.  Do you enjoy Vegas more during the daytime or night time, and why?  I especially like the QOD with multiple questions/answers.  I look forward to the QOD and it's a bummer if there's nothing of interest to me.
