Question of the Day - 03 April 2019

Q:

Reader Poll Preview: Best outdoor dining in Las Vegas

A:

"The untaught harmony of spring:

While whispering pleasure as they fly,

Cool zephyrs through the clear blue sky

Their gathered fragrance fling."

Now that spring has sprung (with thanks to 303-year-old Thomas Gray for his "Ode on Spring"), our thoughts turn to al fresco dining to enjoy before the heat of the summer settles in. This poll is a popularity contest that combines the great outtadoors with the best food and even a bit of value thrown in.

We've endeavored to include the best of patio-dining restaurants, but if we've left off one or another that are on your own lists, let us know and we'll include them in the poll, which will run a week from today.

Tomorrow's Question

I have a question I can't find a clear answer to. As a foreigner, what's the easiest way to deposit cash in Vegas? I'm not talking about big amounts, but what if I want to deposit $500? Or $5,000? Can I open a bank account in Vegas? Can the casino wire it for you? Do they charge for this service? What if it's table game or poker money? Will the casino still perform a wire if you have the chips on you? I've only heard about this with slot jackpot. It seems like getting cash is easy enough by using an ATM or depositing front money, but I never hear about getting money back home. Not that I pretend I'm going to win, but I wonder what happens to people who do and are foreigners.

    outside seating please!
One place that I like to hang out on the patio may not have the best value necessarily, but it's definitely less than the Bellagio restaurants with outdoor seating around the lake (which I think are probably not going to be beat, very nice sitting there watching the water cannons go off) would be Gordon Biersch on Paradise just North of Flamingo. Decent food options and plenty of beer choices! Not a ton of scenery, but it's a nice place to unwind and just relax.

    Who knew?
Wow, thanks in advance for that list! I have been oblivious of all the great places with patio dining so close to, or inside of, hotels where we often stay. Will be very interested in how the votes come in for "best."

    Upstairs patio
    The Hard Rock Cafe.

    Strip View
Only because this is Las Vegas, I think any restaurant holding the title as best al fresco dining HAS to include a view of the Strip in some way. Otherwise, I think it’s like voting for best of NY and seeing the skyline of the Bronx.

    Margarittaville??
Last few times I have tried they had the upstairs dining closed.

  • Dave in Seattle. Apr-03-2019

    Maybe three groups
Have you thought of putting it in three groups? Best on strip or view of the strip, best downtown and best around Vegas. That way people staying in different places can sort the recommendations by location
