Question of the Day - 17 November 2025

Q:

This poll was a suggestion from "VegasJunkie." He writes, "I'm curious and I'd bet that a lot of LVAers are too about how -- or if --everyone's Vegas visiting habits have changed since the gouge has become so prominent in the headlines. Now that the end of the year is in sight and people are starting to think about next year, it's a good time to run a survey like you did in 2019 and you can compare the results from that one to this one."

The question is: How many times do you plan to visit Las Vegas in 2026?

A:

We last ran this poll, as the suggestion from VegasJunkie states, more than six years ago and we're looking to see if you've changed your Vegas visiting habits based on, well, whatever the reason, the gouge being one of them.

Here are the choices from the previous poll, based on feedback from the preview. Let us know in the comments if you have any suggestions for updating the choices.

The poll will run next Monday.

I plan to visit Las Vegas once next year.

I plan to visit Las Vegas twice next year.

I plan to visit Las Vegas thrice next year.

I plan to visit Las Vegas four times next year.

I plan to visit Las Vegas more than four times next year.

I won't be visiting Las Vegas next year.

I no longer visit Las Vegas (due primarily to rising prices and fees).

I visit Las Vegas once every two years; I visited this year, so I won't be going back till 2027.

I'm planning fewer visits in 2026 than last year (or previous years).

I'm planning the same number of visits as last year (or previous years).

My visit(s) will be the same length as previous visits.

My visit(s) will be shorter than previous visits.

My visit(s) will be longer than previous visits.

I'm planning more visits in 2019 than last year (or previous years).

I live in Las Vegas.

No visits next year(down from 2/yr) because of the gouging. If prices go back to semi-normal, I will be back.

    Other
Haven't been for 2 years, and won't be visiting in 26. But due to Family commitments at home, Not the Gouge. Been doing Vegas, and having a blast on a shoestring budget for years! Much in part to the Information and Deals that LVA has laid out for us!

If you go with a group are your number of visits based on the consensus of the group ? Will you take a trip without the group ?

I've stopped traveling to the United States since your president said he wanted to annex my country.

    How about
To address Bob's point: I no longer visit Las Vegas for reasons other than the gouge.

    Also:
I visit Las Vegas less frequently due to the gouge.
I visit Las Vegas less frequently for reasons other than the gouge.

I plan to visit Las Vegas in 2026 only because I have family that live there.

    Expenses count as loss
Next year, maybe once. The new 90% losses tax provision taking effect next year apparently also covers expenses. So for example, a trip incurring $1k of travel expenses effectively increases taxable losses by $100. It just makes playing locally more practical.

Im more affected by other concerns than anything in Vegas. If I didn't have obligations I'd come every month

    Not as much fun!
I/ve averaged 4 visits per year since 1994 when my dad moved there. Last year dropped to 3 and this year 2. It just isn't as much fun anymore. We have visited Atlantic City and Reno/Tahoe at 3 times each for the last two years and much prefer them for gambling.

    Politics
Haven't visited since before Covid and won't be visiting again from the UK for multiple reasons, high prices and gouging, but mainly because of the present president.

    Sad to lose Canadians
I don't blame you for staying home, given the insane amount of disrespect Canada has endured over the past year. For my next trip in December, any Canadian I come across gets a drink on me!

We will be visiting Vegas twice next year. We always plan our trips around multiplier days to maintain our status with Ceasars. Next trip will be the 2nd week in January for the 10X multiplier days.

    Vegas visits
I used visit Vegas 2 or 3 times a year. I hadn't been there since the pandemic until last year when I went twice. I was there in April and October. I'm a blackjack player but I found it too hard to find tables even playing $25 minimums. It just isn't worth my time. That and the gouge makes visiting Vegas not on my list in the near future.

  • steve crouse Nov-17-2025
    Maybe
I wasn't planning to go next year, but with the Canadian traffic slowing down, I may have to reconsider. HA!

    2019?
You might want to update that one. 🙂

    Interesting answers
Nothings changed for me personally but it’s interesting the different reasons why for others, and the ‘gouge’ isn’t even the main one. There’s so much to do in Vegas and surrounding areas other than the strip.

  • Dave Nov-17-2025
    COUPLE TIMES
Used to go 3-4 times per year. The gouging doesn't affect me because I usually stay downtown or at a Locals place. The Strip, I could care less about.

How many times I plan to Vegas visit Vegas next year???
As many times they send me free rooms with no resort fees, and I can get cheap airfares 😁😁😁😁

    The "Gouge" Poll
Statements listed don't explain the "why." For example "My visit(s) will be shorter than previous visits." That could be for a number of reasons but since the poll results are hopefully read by the casino execs, knowing that it's because of the gouge is important. If the casino execs have a tiny window of opportunity to blame it on anything else, they will. Definitely need to explain the polling responses are specifically gouge related. One way might be to add another column like
    REASON: GOUGE RELATED YES NO

    Visit Frequency
I had visited once or twice a year since 1969. I did not make a 2025 trip and may not return due to the gouge and the many changes. I think I read a recent statistic that visitors age 65+ used to be 21% and are now 7%. It’s pretty clear we aren’t their target audience.

    property there
I have a vacation home there . I go back when I can, for a few days for a long weekend.

  • Susan Johnson Nov-17-2025
    visits have changed
Our age bracket might have something to do with return visits, as more of us don't get around as well as we used too. Going to Vegas now is not the same kind of fun it once was. We could stay on the strip and walk most of it. Going in and out of casinos, easily finding full pay video poker and a comped drink. You always knew which casino you were in by the themed decor. Now I don't have the stamina to walk that far and the strip properties have made me not want to anyway. We're retired now and go more often and stay longer but pretty much play where we stay except for the LVA coupon runs. Since your demographic skews to older readers, I would guess age/health concerns play a big part in visit frequency.

    I live in vegas
How about I live in Vegas, but don't frequent the casinos as often as I used to?

  • Michael Taylor Nov-17-2025
    not so often
Used to go to Vegas 4- 5 times a year for last 15 years or so. Plus stopped there for 4-5 hour layover from L.A. another half dozen times. Now just once a year with no stop overs. Prices, especially table minimums and sparce drink service make it less enjoyable. Loss of buffets also make the trips, especially short ones untenable.

  • Bennett Feinerman Nov-17-2025
    Reno
I enjoy Reno alot more and stay at The Atlantis. Vegas is too crowded and the vibe is too cold. Even in the local Casinos.

  • Laurence Martin Nov-17-2025
    Additional question.
Will you visit more less or the same as the previous year? Will you stay off strip?

  • Kurt Wiesenbach Nov-17-2025
A hard question to figure out
My situation has changed in that I no longer have an income, so that is my deciding factor in how many times I visit next year. I typically avoid most of the higher costs associated with a trip by staying at my timeshares with full kitchens, so the gouge isn't a huge deal for me. I also search out the properties that have better odds for gambling, or just play in the high limit rooms as I'm mostly a blackjack player and usually can get some better table rules in those rooms.

    Visiting vegas
I come from the east coast. I have visited vegas 10-12 x per year since 1989. 2008 was the last time. the gouge did me in. No more.

  • Jersey Jeff Nov-17-2025
    Must talk cost
If you are talking about the "gouge", in addition to "how many time" you must ask "how do you visit". I will visit the same number of times, 4-5, but will stay downtown or just off-strip in order to be more economical.

    Suggestion, with respects
I think the list of responses, if you're willing to change it at all from the previous poll, should be split into 3 parts. I could honestly make at least three selections from this list, making the data muddled before you start.
Part A could address the basic 'how many visits' using the first 6 and the last.
Part B could address the 'how is this different from this year' items from your list.
Part C could get into the 'why' and include items like prices, fees, politics (sorry to our Canadian friends), growing fear of flying, none of the above, etc. 3 sections, 1 pick in each group, and an offer to add comments, and you'll get much cleaner data.
