Question of the Day - 18 June 2018

Q:

What's the pool area like at the new Park MGM hotel?

A:

Well, the Monte Carlo waterpark it ain’t.

Though a new Lazy River was announced, it never flowed this far (too lazy?) and the wave pool, waterslides, and huge kiddie pool are gone.

In their place are three slightly separate pool areas, each with its own shallow rectangle with water in it and a little too much concrete for our taste. Palm trees dot the poolscape, providing the only free shade. Otherwise, rent a cabana for $150-$300, which comes with frozen grapes and other stuff. To sit on something soft, you’ll shell out $15 on a lounge for one or $75 for a daybed for up to four of your closest nearly naked friends and hookups.

    I won't park there anymore
It sounds like they ruined it. I suppose the volley ball court and sandy beach are gone too. It still will have the nosiest rooms (no soundproofing) and loudest plumbing as well. It's now off my radar. Didn't lounge chairs used to be free? One of the best food courts is gone too. Starbucks doesn't sell fish tacos, subs, or pizza. Let's hope they leave Luxor alone.

    Well darn...
The pool area and brew pub were the best parts of the Monte Carlo. This "progress" isn't...

    Not the place for me!
This used to be my favorite place to stay in las Vegas but I'm not happy with the dining, bar, and pool changes. I will never stay her again!

    Minority Opinion
We stayed there in March and will again in August. We were actually tired of the loud a very crowded pool environment the last couple times we stayed at Monte Carlo, and have found the quieter pool setting a significant improvement for us. However, I realize we're undoubtedly in the minority, based on comments here.

    no strip entrance yet
took the monorail to bellagio & back. used to often stay at monte carlo. pool area very "sterile". when i walked by in early afternoon w/temps in 110s was almost empty w/many chairs available. there's no food court, no buffet. still building main entrance so have to enter/exit through side alley. casino very quiet. they're going to have problems getting people to come in.
