    Vegas Movie Poll
Wasn't there a movie titled " Twenty One " involving a blackjack group.

Not a single decent movie among them
It seems that whenever a movie is set in Vegas, the script writers say, "Well, our work is done!" and devolve to silly/stupid/cartoonish violence/over the top decadence/partaaaaaaay depictions.Crud like "The Hangover" and "Vegas Vacation" were at least faintly amusing, so I guess those are my answers to "If someone held a gun to your head and forced you to watch one or more of these movie, which would your choice(s) be?"

Oh, and when will Hollywood EVER depict casino gambling with even remote accuracy?

    21
I second the recommendation for 21- good movie about MIT blackjack ring. Based on this great read: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/514313.Bringing_Down_the_House

    More movies
Glad to see Mars Attacks! on your list. How about adding The Stand, and Blast Vegas.

  • Susan Johnson Jun-26-2024
    No fun Kevin
Sounds like Kevin would rather have all movies be documentaries instead of fiction!

    Oscar
Break the list up into those with Oscar winning directors and I think you will have a clear winner.

  • Kevin Behrens Jun-26-2024
I played this game at a $100 table and I didn't understand it. Now I do.
If "Swingers" is on the list, you've gotta have "Go" too. Director Doug Liman loves Vegas.

    Two more
"The Gambler". Though I can't find if any of it was actually filmed in Las Vegas. Excellent performance by James Caan.

    "21" (not Twenty One)

    Candy

    Bugsy
Is Bugsy left out because much of it is in Los Angeles?

    There's a difference..
I think there's a big difference between a movie that's set in Las Vegas and a movie that has 1 or 2 scenes in Las Vegas. In my opinion, the best scene in Las Vegas is in "Lost in America" (one of the funniest movie scenes EVER for me) but I wouldn't call that a Las Vegas movie for a quick 5 minute scene.

Also, I would add "Oceans 13" to the list of movies.

    Oceans 11 2001
    Best

  • Edso Jun-26-2024
    I'm Torn
I really enjoyed the more recent Ocean's 11 with Pitt and Clooney, but the first Hangover movie still cracks me up. I'll go with Hangover, just because it was sooooo funny.

  • Daryl Jun-26-2024
    Bruce
Diamonds are Forever. A bit of a slightly silly James Bond movie, but with a bunch of Las Vegas shown.

  • James Douse Jun-26-2024
    Rain man
Rain man #1 without a doubt, it’s one of the best movies of all time not just Las Vegas movies.

  • Donzack Jun-26-2024
    Come on
Las Vegas story Victor Mature,Jane Russel, Hoagy Carmichael 1952 and Oceans Eleven Sinatra. Remember seeing it in 1959 when I was nine years old. I knew where I wanted to go.

    Hangover
I feel sorry for anyone that didn't think the hangover was anything but comedy gold, and rain man was a great addition
