Who Writes Question of the Day?

Who is “your faithful QoD correspondent” [as mentioned in the New Year's Eve QoD]? Do you answer all our questions?

When the writer to an answer for Question of the Day is unidentified, it means it's written by a member of the LVA staff: Deke Castleman (Huntington Press editor and author of Whale Hunt in the Desert), David McKee (long-time Las Vegas journalist and writer of our popular "Stiffs & Georges" blog), and Anthony Curtis (who needs no annotation). Together, these guys have upwards of 100 years' experience writing about Las Vegas and, if we do say so ourselves, you'd be hard-pressed to find a trio of ink-stained wretches capable of more breadth and depth of perspective on the subject (A.C., of course, on gambling, eating and drinking, and the insider's point of view; David on business, politics, and personalities; and Deke on whatever strangeness is left over).

Our roster of named QoD writers these days consists of Arnold Snyder on blackjack, Jean Scott on frugality and comps, Blair Rodman on sports betting and poker, Andrew Uyal on behind-the-table matters, John Robison on slots, Bob Dancer on video poker, and the occasional guests who prefer to remain anonymous.

So in the past it was mostly Jessica but now it can be one of many writers but mostly Deke, David and Anthony?  My guess is Deke wrote this.

I had thought a woman was writing the QOD answers. Perhaps that was in the past. I think today's answer was written by AC as he has the "insider's point of view," Especially at LVA!

Thanks for answering 3 out of 4 of my questions. I wish my video poker was as good. I always thought some staff member, including A.C., would read and assign the question. I still can’t believe how detailed some answers are, especially the water pipeline of ocean water to Lake Mead, are. Armed with the evidence revealed, I’ll agree with Sandra and go with Deke and A.C. as a second choice. Keep up the good work. Which reminds me, I have to renew my subscription.

I would guess Anthony since he was the only one not given an annotation!  On the other hand, I can see why some guess Deke, since this could be "strangeness left over"!

Question of the Day was my idea, but I couldn't possibly have maintained it all these years. Jessica Roe gets mountains of credit for her great work in writing and popularizing QoD with her wit and splash (you can read her literally thousands of times in the archives). But when she left, Deke was the savior. Deke now runs QoD -- assigning, editing, and of course, contributing in his own inimitable style. Yep, this answer was his and it made me smile.
