Question of the Day - 20 July 2018

Q:

How’s the Raiders Stadium coming along?

A:

It’s coming along and going up.

The 63-acre stadium site is surrounded by a dozen or so cranes, some of them scraping the sky and capable of lifting hundreds of tons of construction materials.

And hundreds of construction workers are crawling all over the site. That number will increase consistently until the peak crew of more than 1,500 is reached around this time next year.

Meanwhile, thousands of dump-trailer loads of dirt have been excavated on the site on the way to a million cubic feet. Thousands of tons of concrete have been poured so far, for walls and the columns that will support the upper tiers. According to the Review-Journal, the steel will start to be installed next month, in which vertical progress will start to be seen.

The $1.8 billion 65,000-seat stadium is scheduled to be completed in time for the 2020 football season. Also, work proceeds on the Raiders’ $100 million practice facility and team HQ on a 55-acre parcel near Henderson’s Executive Airport.
