What happened to Robert Irvine's restaurant when the Tropicana closed? Did it move to another location?
"Restaurant: Impossible" host Robert Irvine’s Public House opened in 2017 to more hype than we recalled seeing over a restaurant, especially at the down-in-the-dumps Tropicana. Turned out that the big build-up proved to be much more pie in the sky than reality. Irvine himself was perpetually missing in action and the food was pedestrian at best, in our opinion anyway. We tried it and were so underwhelmed that we didn't bother writing a review.
A few years ago, we wondered whether Public House might become another permanent casualty of the pandemic. It closed in the shutdown in March 2020 and not only didn't reopen, but a new outlet, Trop & Go, replaced it. We hadn't heard anything either way about it after that for a year and since the Tropicana was in the midst of changing hands again and the new outlet was in its place, we surmised it wasn't coming back.
But then it did. It reopened in July 2021. As bland and forgettable as Public House was, it was actually a plus for the Trop's food scene.
But now, the end has come.
Which brings us to the answer to your question: Nothing happened to it. It didn't move to another location. It simply disappeared. We'd be very surprised if it ever resurfaces.
