Question of the Day - 08 June 2019

Q:

I get multiple offers for Orleans Casino and other Boyd properties. But if I try to combine my Orleans offers it gives me an error message. Why can't I combine offers at the same casino/hotel? Wouldn't they benefit more from me staying five nights instead of three nights? I never understood this policy. Please explain.

And the poll results:

A:

Boyd Gaming communications director David Strow says, “It is simply our policy not to allow the combination of room-night offers. We encourage our guests to redeem our offers, but they're designed to be used on separate trips. This policy is stated on room offers and it's standard practice in the industry.”

He adds, in a conciliatory tone, “Please let your writer know that we would be happy to talk to [him or her ] about this directly.”

    Boyd offers
You can combine Orleans and Boyd properties downtown. At Fremont if you wait 72 hours you can use a Sec offer. I think Orleans is the same. I will stay downtown then go out to Orleans. I have stayed at Fremont stay at 4Queens 3days and go back to Fremont. At Orleans they do not charge resort fees and I have gotten rates as low as 49 dollars. I play at sapphire level. Hope this helps.

    Switch it up
Much like Jerry posted, you can stay at the Orleans and then move another Boyd property, like Gold Coast, and stay there for a few day. At that point you can stay at one of the other properties. Not sure if you get a mailer or use the B Connected site, but there may be a limit on the number of nights you can stay per month at each property. My wife and I will use my 3 nights at the Orleans and then she will book three nights at the end of initial three nights to give us 6 nights.

    No resort fee/comped rooms
I've always been charged a resort fee at the Orleans, even on comped rooms.

I used to get 3 comped nights per month from Boyd. If the dates worked, I'd use them during Barge, which was, until this year, at Binions. I'd spend the last 3 days in July at Main Street Station, then stay the first 3 days in August at Fremont (no resort fee there). Barge always ends on the first Saturday in August, so this arrangement often worked out.
Please note that I gave MSS and Fremont plenty of VP action when I stayed there.
Alas, those Boyd comped room offers seem to have gone away, along with their decent treatment of video poker players. Oh, well. It was nice while it lasted.
