Question of the Day - 30 November 2021

Q:

If Caesars sells off Bally’s, what happens to Le Boulevard that connects Paris to Bally’s. Do you think they would keep it open?

A:

They probably won’t sell Bally’s, for reasons we explained yesterday, but there’s more.

According to Vital Vegas scribe Scott Roeben, “The latest is Caesars will keep Bally's and actually further integrate it into Paris, including walkways connecting the two resorts.” This is part and parcel of a master plan to rebrand Bally’s as a Horseshoe, an on-again/off-again idea that’s reportedly back “on.”

“This fits with the announcement that the World Series of Poker will relocate from Rio to Bally's/Paris and it would be great to see the WSOP reunited with the Horseshoe brand, as that's where it began prior to Harrah's Entertainment (not Caesars Entertainment) snatching the Horseshoe and WSOP from Binion’s,” Roeben writes.

“I think that scenario is a lot less interesting than the Seminoles demolishing Bally's to build a guitar hotel, mainly because while the bulldozers are there, they could also flatten the Grand Bazaar Shops." (Roeben believes the Grand Bazaar Shops are an abomination.) "But that's the latest on the rumor-and-speculation front.”

Unfortunately, Caesars would not comment on the fate of Le Boulevard, so “rumor and speculation” are all we have. Still, the Parisian connector appears to be quite safe.

    Even if…
Even if Bally’s was sold, there’s no reason to get rid of the corridor between it and Paris.

Sure, it’s unlikely that competitive businesses would build such a corridor, but since it’s there, unless they to demolish the building, why get rid of it?

A better question to ask would be what would they do about the shared parking garage?

    Red Headed Cousin
The RIO has always been the Red Headed Cousin in the CZR lineup. The shuttle from Harrah's to the RIO was a good idea, the parade in the sky was a draw, as was the seafood buffet and I thought the location of the WSOP was brilliant as it drew people to the place that otherwise would stay on the strip.

No Buffet, No Parade, No WSOP, close the doors and drive traffic to the main properties and let them look busy.

    - ie no one wants to walk into an empty restaurant or casino - it just reeks of despair.

IMHO - The only place worse for a location is the Palms

    sharing facilities
Not only do they share parking, but they share an electrical substation, which would be the biggest issue I would think. The walkway should be a more simple matter, just draw a line wherever the new and old owner agree on and that's the new property line.

    Horseshoe
I hope Mr. Roeben is right, I'd like to see an upscale Horseshoe on the Strip. Of course it is kind of funny they would stick a place with a Parisian theme and join it to something based on the Horseshoe. Unfortunately, I don't have too much hope that Caesars would put the necessary money into it to do it right. I expect them to do what they did with Barbary Coast aka Bill's Gambling Hall aka The Cromwell, gussy it up just enough to fool people into paying more for the exact same thing.
