I’ll be flying to Vegas in late June and I noticed Jennifer Romas presents Sexxy After Dark is currently playing at Larry Flynt's Hustler Club. I’m assuming the alternate venue is due to performances of Sexxy: The Show at the Westgate having shut down because of the COVID performance restrictions and limitations on audience capacity. I’ve seen Sexxy: The Show a number of times on prior trips, and looking at various social media posts, the two shows appear very similar, but I have a few questions.
1) Sexxy: The Show was promoted as a Topless Revue, while Sexxy After Dark is billed as Burlesque. Does that mean the performers keep their tops on at the Hustler Club? (Almost ironic if it does ...)
2) How do the two shows compare in terms of run time? Are they essentially the same or considerably different?
3) The general admission price at the Westgate was $40, while general admission at the Hustler Club is an amazinlyg low $10. Why the huge price differential?
4) The wonderfully talented Gabriella Versace used to perform the vocals at the Westgate, but I see the equally amazing Anne Martinez is singing at the Hustler club. Wondering if the switch was something contractual, or if Gabriella has moved on to other projects?
5) With many other Vegas shows now reopening and capacity increased to 50%, does the show have any tentative plans/date to move back to the Westgate?
[Editor's Note: Arnold Snyder responds.]
I saw Sexxy at the Westgate a few times, as it was the highest-rated topless production show in Las Vegas on my ToplessVegasOnline.com website. It was by far the sexiest show that was not in an actual strip club and it featured the most talented dancers. So last weekend I went to Hustler Club to see what’s become of it. I’ll answer your questions in order.
1) Yes, the performers in Sexxy After Dark keep their tops on. Current pandemic restrictions have allowed strip clubs in Nevada to reopen as either lounges or “bikini bars,” but specifically prohibit topless entertainment.
2) The two shows are essentially the same. The Hustler show lasts one full hour. I don’t recall the run time of the Westgate show, but all of the most important dance numbers that I mentioned in my ToplessVegasOnline review are still featured, including Jennifer Romas’ breathtaking pole dance to Michael Buble’s “Feeling Good” and her steamy bathtub acrobatics.
3) Here’s what an out-of-stater needs to know about the Hustler Club deal. If you have your own transportation, like a rental car, your own car, or a local friend who’s driving you, get the $10 ticket that includes your entry into the club and a seat for the show. But you must order this ticket online at Hustler’s website or you may be charged more at the door, assuming the room has not yet been filled to capacity (currently limited to 50%, but possibly higher by June). If you don’t have your own wheels, do not take a cab, Uber, Lyft, or even a casino house limo or you’ll pay a minimum of $100 to get in. (That’s what out-of-staters were being charged on both Friday and Saturday night last weekend.) Order one of the packages on Hustler’s website that includes transportation. The best deal is the $50 dinner package that includes transportation, entry, a spaghetti dinner, and two drinks. The major Vegas strip clubs typically have high-priced drinks. The night I went to the show, a bottle of Corona cost me $17. That should make the $50 dinner package look even more attractive.
If you have NV state ID, you can get in for free with a Hustler VIP card and you don’t have to order any package deal. I think they may charge $10 for the card if you don’t have one, but I got mine six years ago and I can just flash the card for free entry into the club forever.
4) I have no knowledge of why Anne Martinez is now doing the vocals, but she has a powerful voice and the song choices are perfect for the show — including "Light My Fire,” “I Put a Spell on You,” and “Bang Bang, I Know You Want It.” Plus, she’s gorgeous and sexy, a good fit for this show. Gabriella Versace is now doing a lot of solo shows around town. She lists her performance schedule on her Facebook page.
5) I don’t think anyone knows what will be happening with this show or any other Vegas show come June, though the state has announced that the individual counties will start making their own decisions on restrictions starting on May 1. Also, I’m not sure Sexxy will want to move back to the Westgate if that’s an option. I don’t know what the Westgate was paying the performers and I don’t know what Hustler is paying them, but on my Saturday night at Hustler, two cocktail servers were kept busy throughout the show scooping wads of dollars off the stage and the floor around the stage, as quite a few guests were making it rain like crazy. Sexxy may have discovered there’s more money to be made in a strip club than a casino showroom.
By the way, this is a strip club show you can comfortably bring your wife or girlfriend to, as all of the Sexxy dancers, as well as the Hustler dancers who perform before and after the show, appear in bikinis, not topless. There’s no lap dancing or babes in skimpy lingerie sitting in guys’ laps out in the audience. All stage dancers wear masks, as do the hosts, bartenders and servers. You should arrive in a mask, but you may remove it as soon as you have a drink in front of you.
If you liked the Westgate show, you’ll like this show. You’ll find a somewhat lengthier review on my ToplessVegas website here.
