Are the Nevada Brothels Obeying Social-Distancing Guidelines?

Well, here is a topic that my friends and I were discussing. With the coronavirus alerts and the suggestion that everyone practice "social distancing," staying at least six feet apart, what is that doing to the "sex workers"? Has business at the brothels ended? Or do they just ignore the warnings and continue providing "services"?

On March 16, right after Nevada's governor issued his emergency declaration shutting down all non-essential businesses in the state, the Nevada Brothel Association stated that its member brothels would remain open. It didn't, to be sure, provide any justification for being included in the essential-business category; the press release did mention that the brothels would be reduced to "skeleton crews."

But a couple days later, when the governor included the brothels on the list of non-essential businesses in his next announcement about closings, the brothels complied and as far as we know, they're all shut down.

Besides, who wants to have sex with a skeleton anyway?

Essential?

When I was in the Navy that category of "worker" was considered essential by those I worked with. You know, for morale purposes during difficult and hard times. But that 6 ft rule makes it tough to have a meaningful appointment, unless maybe by wearing the proper PPE you can make it work..Yes, everyone is being asked to make sacrifices at this time...

I don't see why this type of business has to be shut down because of the coronavirus. The top 2 ways the virus gets transmitted are (1) sneeze/cough/breath from another person, and (2) your touching a contaminated surface with your finger/hand and then touching your eyes/nose/mouth. It would be easy for everybody in brothels to keep the 6-foot distance except for the 2 people involved in the activity.  Of those 2 people, the client could wear a face-mask and/or a sealed face shield or helmet (or both) such that he can't possibly ingest the virus respiratorily, while the servicer could shower to wash her hands and body before each client.  I have not read or heard any evidence that the virus can be transmitted genitally or (nonrespiratorily) orally.  Heck, I've gotten take-out food where the order taker and I were only on opposite sides of a table or counter, closer than 6 feet, and nobody seems to be considering that setup to be breaking the prohibition.

One more thought

Brothels could simply elect to prohibit the usual coitus as a way of pretty much ensuring that the virus doesn't get transmitted respiratorily, restricting the methods of stimulation to manual and/or oral, such that the face of the servicer is a few feet from the face of the client.  A physical barrier could added too, a vertical one that has a semicircular opening where it meets the bed such that it fits around the lower torso of the client.  Both the servicer and the client could shower beforehand to remove any danger of transmission via physical touching.  This could still work.
