Question of the Day - 18 November 2019

Q:

Is there anywhere in Las Vegas that you can play single deck blackjack? And if so, do any of those games offer 3-2 on a blackjack?

A:

According to Current Blackjack News, only Silverton and El Cortez deal single-deck blackjack in Las Vegas. Everywhere else, it's double-deck and six- and/or eight-deck shoes.

El Cortez has six single-deck tables and Silverton has two, and yes, the games at both casinos pay 3-2 on naturals.

Is there anywhere in Las Vegas that you can play single deck blackjack? And if so, do any of those games offer 3-2 on a blackjack?

    I miss Las Vegas
Remember when everyone made money? And slots were looser. A VP machines had fair pay tables. And blackjack was single-deck. And comps were in the hands of the people on the floor.

    The Tez
Also just wait my last visit to the Tez saw continuous shuffle machines being introduced. I am not looking to beat the house just play a fair game and one that makes me think a little while I drink.

    El Corpse
Last two visits there, I saw exactly ONE single deck game in operation ($10 minimum), and all of the remaining games were continuous shufflers or shoes.

I would imagine that anybody playing in that one remaining game will get intense heat.

    Single Deck BJ?
There used to be one towards the back of Binion's. Table was always FULL. I guess that is gone now. Continuous shuffler are becoming more popular. No fun.
I prefer double deck, anyway.NO goofy side bets.

You definitively need to do more research. The Orleans has single deck B.J. Even Money!

    Unlikely
Not saying it's definitely not so -- things come and go all the time -- but I don't think the Orleans has a single deck game. On what shift did you see it? We'll check it out. Where this answer was in error, however, was in stating that only the El Cortez game pays 3-2 on naturals. The Silverton single deck also pays 3-2, though doubling is restricted to 10 and 11 only. The answer has been updated.

    more single deck
The Orleans does have single deck and pays 6 to 5. For a long time, Hooters had single deck that paid 3 to 2. But over a year ago they changed ALL of the BJ tables to 6 to 5.

    This in via email
Good old El Cortez, always our favorite place. Jackie was a brilliant marketing person and we perceived him as a fine and upright person. Was it true that he carried a gas can in his car, in case somebody ran out of gas out on the road?

Was at the Orleans for 7 days. Oct. 27 - Nov. 5th. Also called the BJ pit at the Orleans this morning just to make sure, it was still in play and it is, all day. Only one table!!!

    I haven't played it myself...
but my cousin is fond of the 6-5 single-deck game at Orleans. He likes it because of the low limits which "...make his bankroll last longer." I explained it all to him a few times and he's still doing it, so I gave up. This was true last time I was there, about the middle of June.
And IIRC, on the same trip both Gold Coast and South Point had a few 3-2 Double-deck games.
Another variation is to have a single-deck game and just shuffle
up after every hand. I've seen this occasionally, but won't mention any names.
    Cheers.

    Single deck in Vegas
I believe Circus Circus, Arizona Charlie's Decatur and Stratosphere have single deck games. CC has one 10 dollar table and one 15 dollar table. ACD has one ten dollar table.
Strat has 10 dollar video blackjack.
Anthony please correct me if I am wrong.
