Question of the Day - 13 July 2019

Q:

I was at the Las Vegas airport car-rental return facility tonight and was shocked to see all the slot machines were removed. They had about 50 and now have zero. What’s up with that? Plus, your link to the results from the poll on credit card benefits.

A:

McCarran International Airport spokeswoman Christine Crews tells us, “Those slots were removed due to low usage and we're now exploring new ideas/uses for the area.”

Evidently, people are (understandably) in too much of a hurry to get their rental cars to take the time to play the (high-hold) bandits at the car-rental center. At the airport terminals while they wait to board their planes, people have more time to feed the machines.

And here's your link to the poll on your preferences for credit-card benefits

    License?
I always wondered why they were there. After all, as you say, people are just passing through. Either after dropping off their rents and running to the bus to catch a plane, or running to the desk to get the car to get out of there.

But what really surprised me was when I found out that it was covered under the umbrella of the airport slot license. I mean, I get that it’s the airport Rent-A-Car center, but it’s not even close to the airport…
