Question of the Day - 23 October 2025

Q:

I just read that Boa Steakhouse will be opening soon at the Venetian. The Venetian already has five steakhouses, this will make six. How many steakhouses does one casino need? Seems excessive to me.

A:

We count six steakhouses currently. When it opens, Boa will be the seventh.

The six at Venetian and Palazzo are CUT by Wolfgang Puck, Delmonico Steakhouse (an Emeril venue), Smith & Wollensky, Morels French Steakhouse & Bistro, Bazaar Meat, and Cote, which opened earlier this month, the first and only Korean steakhouse with a Michelin star in the U.S.

BOA is slated to open before the end of the year, the lucky seventh.

As to why the Venetian needs another steakhouse, well, Venelazzo and the Grand Canal Shoppes have a total of 69 eateries, believe it or not. So seven steakhouses make up 10% of them. There are also 10 Italian restaurants, seven Asian restaurants, four Latin restaurants, and even two Grand Lux Cafes.

Excessive? Perhaps. But with 7,100 hotel rooms, thousands of conventioneers attending trade shows and events at the Venetian Expo at any given time, and thousands more taking in a movie or show at Sphere, hundreds of partiers at Tao Dayclub and Nightclub, 1,000 people filling the seats at Voltaire, and all the gamblers who are just there for the casino, seats at the seven steakhouses fill up fast.

The increasing and changing restaurant lineup is an integral piece of the $1.5 billion renovation of the gigantic property. And in conjunction with the opening of Cote, the president and CEO of the Venetian announced that the plan is for Venelazzo "to be the culinary leader on the Strip." With 69 food outlets, including the Via Via food hall for the middle tier, and more planned, we'd say it's well on the way.

Now if only it didn't cost $20 (weekdays) and $23 (weekends) for non-locals to park.

    market
As much as the market will bear is the short answer I'd guess, apparently money is to be made.

I wonder more about why do casinos have so many live gambling tables these days when they sit empty so often based on my observations over the years.

    Anticipation
As you walk towards the working tables, the empty tables offer a pregnant pause. Much like that yellow can of tonic water in a vending machine.

It won't take long, trust me. And I, for one, look forward to our robot overlords.
