The new Circa Sportsbook at the Silverton seems to have coincided with the mini Stadium Swim constructed at the pool. Just wondering if Derek Stevens has a financial interest in the Silverton, or was consulted in the planning of both projects?
We sent your query to Circa headquarters and within five minutes got a response from Derek Stevens himself. Talk about speedy service! Sets an all-time QoD record for a response from a casino magnate.
The short answers from Stevens are “No” and “Yes.” But he elaborated further.
“We have a basic set of design criteria and options for Circa Sports satellite sports books. We work with the owner/operator to better understand their needs and try to match our design criteria to achieve the objectives of the owner.
“For example, there was a request at Tuscany to minimize people hanging around the sports book, so they can get as many people into their great restaurant right next door.
"Silverton had a different initiative and that was to attract people to the property, increase the slot coin-in near the sports book, and give them a great place to hang out while wagering and enjoying the games.
“The same could be said for our sports books in Illinois at The Temporary at American Place and what we're building at the Mint Casino at Kentucky Downs.”
Stevens concluded, “Regarding ownership, my brother and I own the Golden Gate, the D, and Circa. We own all the Circa Sportsbooks in Nevada and around the country. But we don’t have any ownership in the other casinos where Circa Sports are located.”
That just about covers it. Thank you, Derek.
