Question of the Day - 02 July 2020

Q:

I see on Arnold Snyder’s website, ToplessVegasonline.com, that Nevada's governor said dancers could be on stage in strip clubs, but stopped them from having topless dancers. I mean, really? No top increases the risk of virus transmission? Is this Nevada or the Bible Belt? What's going on?

A:

[Editor's Note: We asked Arnold and he answered.]

According to the Reno Gazette Journal, city spokesman Jon Humbert said that the Reno strip clubs that had a restaurant or liquor license could have dancers. He was quoted: "They need to remain clothed top and bottom, but they're allowed to dance on any sort of stage or platform. There definitely cannot be private dances."

This report came in around noon on Thursday June 18. The "remaining clothed top" made no sense to me, as I'd seen no reports that viewing naked breasts from a safe distance could transmit COVID-19, but that's what the city spokesman said.

Well, even that became moot. Only four hours later, possibly before any dancers even made it as far as the strip-club stages, the city of Reno (or was it Governor Sisolak?) reversed that decision and informed the clubs that no dancers were allowed on stage, not even if they kept their tops on.

As of now, all strip clubs in Reno must stick to food and beverages only. No dancers are allowed -- on stage or off, clothes on or off.

In Las Vegas, four strip clubs reopened in mid- to late June, three of them as bars only -- no dancers. The fourth, the Palomino Club, is featuring dancers on stage. Traditionally a totally nude club, Palomino's dancers for now do not remove tops or bottoms, but otherwise do their full routines, working the poles and the stage like always. Customers cannot sit at the edge of the stage for now.

Dancers don't wear masks when they're on stage, but they do when they come down from the stage if they enter the main room. All Palomino employees -- bartenders, waitresses, bouncers, etc. -- wear masks. Right now, Palomino is the only strip club in Las Vegas (and in the state of Nevada) with exotic dancers on stage.

Things are happening and changing fast these days, of course. All the latest updates are on the website that I manage, ToplessVegasOnline (warning: NSFW).

How often do they clean those stripper poles?
Seems like those stripper poles could be a hotbed of covid critters - how often do they get wiped down I wonder?

    Wiping down the poles
It could be unpleasant for the dancer if they wipe down the stripper club poles with sanitizer. That stuff contains strong medical alcohol and would burn the private parts down there. And non-alcohol based sanitizers use chemicals you don't want near delicate body openings, especially if the chemical can be absorbed inside moist mucous tissues. They'd have to make sure the pole is completely cleaned with a dry cloth after sanitizing it. Don't want any chem burns on the hoochie-coochie.

    Topless.
Why have an exotic strip club that isn't topless?
Masks ON off stage is OK.
    Some cannot serve booze.

    This is intolerable
We can accept no social gatherings. We can take no concerts, no live baseball, no plays, no movies. We can accept no bingo, fewer slot machines, masks, four-handed-poker, etc. We can accept no buffets or bars.

But TAKE AWAY BOOBS???? That's the last straw! Them snowflake liberals want to ruin our lives! The Deep State is completely in power!!! We have a Constitutional right to see boobs! Our Founding Fathers died for that! FREEDUMB!!!

    Cleansing the poles
Strippers often clean the poles themselves before their routine. Can’t do many of those moves if the pope has sweat and/or other fluids on it.

    5 things
    1. Even if dancers were on stage, if they aren't topless or bottomless, then how can you call the place a strip club?

    2. For Kevin Lewis, if you want to see a boob, just turn on CNN and wait for Donald Trump to appear in one of the news segments.

    3. For all the guys (and maybe a few gals) who want to have a bottomless experience, just eat at Red Robin, where they have both bottomless soft drinks and bottomless fries.

    4. Don't blame the liberals for the draconian rules. Liberal people by definition are in favor of liberty in everything possible or reasonable, and they would push for not having to wear face masks and for allowing strippers to strip. The vibe that pushes for the requirement to wear face masks and the ban on nudity is that of extreme caution, something very different from liberality.

    5. Re the concern about dancers' "lower lips": Just clean the pole with whatever will kill all microbes, and then coat it with aloe. No infection, and no irritation.
