    free parking
I wouldn't recommend walking from Ellis Island to the strip in the summer! did it, wouldn't do it again.

    Walking
If you think walking to the strip from Ellis was bad, try walking from the Rio when it's 115 degrees. Never again.

    Ellis Island
I've walked from Bally's to EI in summer. It's hot but not horrible if you just take it easy. Of course, going from there to somewhere else up and down the strip is another topic entirely. No way would I walk from Rio to the strip.

    they shouldn't
So, for practical reasons, all MGM and Caesars properties are the ones that charge for self-parking. They shouldn't even be charging for self-parking, as they have huge earnings, but their greed is very evident. there should be a law prohibiting free self-parking, and even valet parking should be tip based only, by law a business must have parking for their clients, why should they charge their client for parking where they are spending their money?, it's just not logical, but they have been robing their clients now for years, too bad, I just don't go there all together, there are plenty of places that want my money and don't charge me for parking at their properties.

Might be able to walk from strip to Ellis Island if...
You can walk from Strip to Ellis Island if
you do it from about October to April
                   AND
you stop at the Stage Door on the way for a couple of real cold beers.
                    And
you are not older than about 55 or 60, no undlerlying medical conditions.

ON second thought, maybe you shouldn't try to walk to Ellis Island, just stay at The Stage Door.

    You’re complaining about … WALKING???
Walking to Ellis Island is a piece of cake. Just go out the Bally‘s exit near the sports book. You’re part way there already.

Walk to Rio? I never did it but I hear there is a shortcut to the back from the back of Caesars via Twain Ave.

About 10 years ago, I walked from Imperial Palace to Palms on an October afternoon. Not a bad walk.

Just last week, staying at the Mirage, took the tram to TI at about 8:00, then walked past Fashion Show Mall, into Resorts World. Played a bit then walked to Circus Circus. Didn’t play but got my souvenir chip. Walked to Sahara. Played a bit. Walked to Strat. Played a bit. At about 1:30am I contemplated taking the bus back but did Uber instead.

FYI. I’m 62 and overweight. If you wanna complain, complain about parking fees, not walking for free.

    Resorts World?
Don't see Resorts World on this list--are they already charging?

    Summer Heat
Lots of people underestimate the distances just from one strip casino to the next. It’s a long block or more and when it’s in the 100-teens, it is not a pleasant stroll by any means, All the arenas, stadiums, etc. are the biggest cause of paid parking IMO because they would have paid parking like any arena, but if it were free at casinos and close to an arena, you’d just park for free and walk. Of course no corporation is going to give up something for free when there’s money involved. Venetian and Wynn still treat customers as if they want them to return as far as parking goes.

    Tropicana parking
Parking at Tropicana is not free (unless you're a Tropicana hotel guest) whenever there's an event at the nearby T-Mobile Arena, which is often.

    Piece of Cake, I agree!
I guess having lived in Florida all of my 77 years conditioned me to stroll from the food court area of Bally’s to Ellis Island with ease. Matter of fact, one needs to walk after eating the Hungry Man’s Breakfast Item from the menu at Ellis Island. That’s the one that includes the ham steak that almost covers the whole plate along with the eggs and potatoes and choice of bread. Of course, I am walking there before 9am and returning before the temperature has become unbearable. I did it in June, August and September when I was booked in Bally’s. Early morning in June I walked from Bally’s to The Excalibur and back because I refuse to pay for parking on the Strip. I don’t have to pay for parking at any Caesar’s properties. So I agree that walking to Ellis Island from Bally’s is a piece of cake if you use common sense as to what part of the day you choose to do so. I’m never going to pay for parking on the Strip; however, Downtown maybe my exception if I can not get a validation.
