What can you tell us about "The Venue" located on East Fremont just beyond the El Cortez. Is it historic? It seems impressive from the street, but from my Internet searches, it's not much more than a ballroom/banquet hall.
You're quite right. It’s not the least bit historic, having been built in 2015-2016. It certainly looks historic (and had us fooled), a tribute to the developers, Valley of the Sun Las Vegas, whom we were unable to reach at their Scottsdale listing.
Fortunately, since The Venue is on the market, we were able to contact Realtor Patty Martinez of Landscape Realty Group, who gave us the lowdown on the place.
“What we provide,” she said, “is the facility and you bring in everything else,” be it catering, bar service, performers, security, etc.
The Venue is primarily employed for proms, weddings, and concerts. Its entire second floor comprises breakout rooms to meet Las Vegas’ gluttonous need for meeting space. It has a downstairs bar that opens onto Fremont Street, thus potentially pulling in passersby like yourself. It also boasts a full bar on the rooftop, plus mobile bar stands for the breakout rooms.
Occupying seven-tenths of an acre and 40,000 square feet, The Venue is listed at the time of this writing for $22.9 million. However, it's soon to be taken off the market, though not out of business. (For a booking, call 702-498-6641.)
Designed in an elegant mishmash of styles, The Venue is located at 750 E. Fremont Street, cheek by jowl with the notorious Western, a casino so dodgy that LVA Publisher Anthony Curtis wouldn’t set foot in it. It's also kitty-corner from the Container Park, Tony Hsieh’s lasting legacy to Las Vegas.
The Venue holds 2,000 revelers and, in Landscape Realty’s words, “The elements of iron, wood, and stone come together to offer an unparalleled setting for an event worth remembering.” A set of floor plans can be found on the Web. They indicate that The Venue isn’t finite, with room for possible expansion, as well as with a potential billiard room and offices all centered around a two-story grand hall.
In addition to that main ballroom are 12 embedded flat-panel TVs, the VirtueVice Bar & Lounge (BYOB), an executive conference room, and two small event spaces: Virginia and Bugsy. Whoever named them had a grim sense of humor. Anyway, it’s hiding in plain sight for anyone looking to try and make their fortune in downtown Sin City.
