When oh when will the I-15-Tropicana interchange be completed? I thought it was supposed to be done by the end of this year, but looking at it, it sure seems like it has a long time to go.
You're right, but we're sorry that you are. "Dropicana" will continue well into next year.
Originally, it was supposed to be completed by the end of this year, but along the way, it was moved forward by six to seven months. As for reasons, Formula 1 and the Super Bowl were announced after the Dropicana schedule; also, it's a massive project that requires aligning relatively intricate schedules among construction and utility companies, government agencies, and funding sources.
The entire project is budgeted at $305 million and will take 30 months to complete. Having started in January 2023, we're now roughly 22.5 months into it, with seven or eight to go.
When it's completed sometime next summer, I-15 will be wider at the Tropicana interchange and the Trop flyovers will be reconstructed to better accommodate increased traffic on the way to T-Mobile Arena, Allegiant Stadium, Reid International, and the Las Vegas Athletics Stadium if it's ever funded, started, completed, and opened.
