Can you give any updates on whether shows currently at Tropicana Hotel & Casino will transfer to another location. I especially liked going to the Laugh Factory. I will be deeply upset to not have the option of free parking at Trop.
The two shows at the Tropicana have both found new homes, at least temporarily.
MJ LIVE had its last performance at the Trop on Friday March 1. It's now in the process of moving to the Sahara. It opens there a week from today, Monday March 18, but it's a limited engagement; the show is scheduled to close on Sunday July 28. Perhaps an accommodations will be made for it to be extended at the Sahara, but even if not, at least it gives the Michael Jackson impersonator show four-plus months to find a more permanent home.
The Prince tribute show, Purple Reign, also closed early this month and is reopening next week, on Tuesday March 19, at the V Theater in the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood. Its run there is, as of this writing, indefinite.
As for Laugh Factory, it was reported at the end of January, only a day after the announcement that the Trop was closing in April, that the comedy club was already making plans to move to another Strip location, which would be announced "as details are firmed up in the next month or so." Well, a month or so has definitely come and gone and there's been nary a word about where Laugh Factory might land. The only thing we know at the moment is that the last show at the Trop will be on March 31. As soon as anything is reported on the new venue, we'll cover it in our Vegas News feature.
Finally, yes, the free parking in the Trop's large surface lots will soon be a thing of the past. We assume that the entire property will be fenced off as it's prepared for the wrecking ball.
