What happened to Valley View Blvd. between Flamingo and Tropicana ?
What happened to Valley View was the $65 million 20-month road-construction project that was completed in August 2020.
The project pushed Valley View Blvd. through its dead end north of Tropicana Avenue, while at the same time pushing Harmon Avenue through its own dead end at Valley View. Both had butted up against the Union Pacific Railroad tracks.
What's now known as the Valley View/Harmon Flyovers allow motorists to access the Strip from the west on Harmon, which has reduced traffic on Tropicana and Flamingo. Drivers can also continue on Valley View, an alternative north-south road just west of the Strip, from one end down at Southern Highlands in the south all the way to W. Washington Avenue in the north.
The beautiful flyovers also greatly improve access to Allegiant Stadium.
The county started studying the Valley View/Harmon situation as far back as 1994, when the first feasibility survey was commissioned. It started actively planning for the flyovers in 2000, meaning that the overpass was two decades in the making. And the flyovers couldn't have come at a more opportune time. Clark County predicts 40,000 vehicles per day on Harmon and Valley View by 2025.
