Question of the Day - 19 November 2025

Q:

Many years ago, you ran a QoD listing the 10 oldest restaurants in Vegas. I'm sure it's different today than it was then. Can you update the list for us as of today?

A:

We sure can.

The last time we ran the list of the 10 oldest Vegas restaurants, the following were on it and have closed since then: Macayo Vegas (#4, 1959), Battista's Hole in the Wall (#5, 1970; currently closed, it might or might not reopen), and Pamplemousse (#10, 1976). The other seven remain on the following updated list.

1. Bob Taylor Original Ranch House (1955)

2. Golden Steer (1958)

3. Top of the Mint/Binion's (1965)

4. Peppermill (1972)

5. Bootlegger (1972)

6. Kung Fu Thai & Chinese Restaurant (1973)

7. Farm Basket (1973)

8. Chicago Joe's (1975)

9. Hugo's Cellar (1976)

10. Piero's Italian Cuisine (1982)

I saw somewhere that Battista's was reopening this evening.

    52 years of great donuts!
Ronald’s Donuts on Spring Valley opened in 1973. Not a restaurant per se, but still a long time winner…
