Question of the Day - 09 January 2018

Q:

I'm sorry to see that the Auto Collection at the Linq is closing on December 30. Are there any other auto collections or museums around Las Vegas that are open to the public?

A:
Yes there is.

Classic & Collectible Cars is a family-owned and operated classic- and special-interest-vehicle dealership on W. Sirius Avenue a block east of Valley View Boulevard that's been in business since 1982. The big indoor showroom displays around 30 classic cars at any given time and the proprietors have appeared many times on the History Channel's "Counting Cars."

CC&C also rents a few classic cars to the public; currently, it's a 1968 fire-engine-red Mustang convertible. They supply classic cars for production shoots and location displays and appraise classic and customized cars.

If you ever make it up to Reno, the granddaddy of Nevada classic-car museums is right downtown. The 29-year-old National Automobile Museum is located at 10 S. Lake Street near the corner of Mill and has been named by AutoWeek magazine as one of the top five automobile museums in the county and among the greatest 16 in the world. Most of the 200 cars ion display in the museum come from the collection of the late Bill Harrah, who made a bit of money in the casino business.

    Also...
There’s a pretty extensive collection at Riverside Casino in Laughlin.

Also, Powerhouse Visitor Center in nearby Kingman AZ had a collection of vintage ELECTRIC cars from the early/mid 20th century. Very cool stuff!

    Counts Custom's
funny they mention the Classic and Collectible company has been on the Count's Custom's show but they dont mention the showroom at Count's. A lot of the cars have been souped up but it is still free and they have quite a bit to look at, with some of them being "classics". Not too far away from the strip, either.

    IP Collection
I absolutely loved the original collection at the old Imperial Palace. Unfortunately, it really went downhill when they changed it to a dealership. But the original had an entire room full of Duesenbergs. I could spend hours looking at those incredible cars. And no matter what the admission price, they always had people outside the casino handing out free admission tickets!
