Why Is Legacy Club on the 60th Floor, when Circa Is Only 40 Stories?

In one of the Vegas Facebook groups I'm in, someone suggested a visit to a club at Circa, listed as being on the 60th floor. Depending on which reference is correct, Circa appears to be somewhere between 35 and 44 floors tall. How can Circa, with a straight face, claim a club is on a nonexistent 60th floor? I know they occasionally skip floors to try to appease all gamblers, but …?

We don’t know how they do it. We really, honestly, don’t.

Circa’s public-relations agency, Kirvin Doak, wouldn’t return our calls. Also, Circa’s in-house PR boss, Brooke Sanchez, seems to have entered Witness Protection since we first broached this subject.

Obviously, it’s hype. And a way to make Circa patrons feel like they’re farther above Glitter Gulch than they actually are.

According to the Circa website, "Standing at 35 stories tall and nearly 500 feet high, Circa Las Vegas is the tallest hotel north of the Strip. The floor numbering goes up to level 60, but Derek Stevens notes that some floor numbers will be left out."

We hesitate to dis Circa co-owner Derek Stevens, one of the few casino CEOs who really seems to understand players. But skipping the 40s and 50s seems a bit of overkill to us. Though it does sound good in the promo materials.

Also, Circa is certainly not the first or only Las Vegas hotel-casino to play games with floor numbering. When the Rio put up its 42-story tower, it skipped the fourth floor and all the 40s, so the rooftop restaurant, bar, and observation deck, along with the Presidential penthouse, are on the "51st" and "52nd" floors.

Subsequently, the Palms couldn’t very well erect a 46-story tower that was shorter than the Rio’s at a real 41 stories. For reasons we're also uncertain of, the Palms skips floors 32 through 39 and "unlucky" floor 13. Accordingly, when you press the button for the Ghost Bar on the "55th" floor of the Palms, you’re whisked to the actual 39th.

Other examples include the Wynn, which skips the 13th floor and the 40s, plus floors 1 through 4, so the first floor is the 5th and although the top floor is the 60th, in reality it's only the 45th. Encore follows the same pattern as its sister property.

And Circa actually comes closest to Mandalay Bay, which skips the 40s and the 50s, so although the House of Blues Foundation Room purports to be on floor 63, in actuality the property has 43 floors.

I am shocked!

 Does that mean that the casinos lie? OMG! Does that mean that 6/5 blackjack isn't better than 3/2 blackjack? Does that mean when they say "by popular demand" that visitors are not really demanding what the casinos are touting? Does that mean that the casinos have been lying to us about many things that they tout?

Hotels everywhere have 'skipped' floor 13 on the elevator buttons, that number being associated with legends such as black cats walking under a ladder, touching a fortune cookie before reading it, etc., as causing certain bad luck.  Maybe this gave them the idea...LOL.

Seriously, I've always heard of Vegas hotels 'skipping' a certain number of floors like that, some 'explanations' concerning the geography and other [hogwash] interferring with having one or more actual guest floors.  Surely we have some architechs among the readership who can address this.

Casino Floor Games

I think it was at Caesars in Atlantic City where the original tower's floors started with 1 but when they built the newer tower its floor numbers start with 1 more than the number of floors in the original tower.

What's the difference?

So...they number their floors in a way you don't like them. Are you confused? If your room # is on the xx floor, when you get to the elevator, push the xx button. It's that simple. I'm actually waiting for a casino/hotel to number them backwards, so the top floor is #1 and the bottom floor is xx...or whatever. Maybe they should just skip all odd numbers and go 2..4..5 etc. Who should really care?

Don't Know Why

 I don't know why Clifford deemed it necessary to post the number of gun deaths for children in 2021, her is the article -https://www.nbcnews.com/health/kids-health/gun-deaths-us-children-rose-2021-cdc-data-shows-rcna100601- but here is the number of deaths by auto in 2021 - 42,939. What do these stats mean? It means to me that out of a population of 330+ million people in America that people, young and old are still dying and will continue to die each ensuing year. Does this mean that autos should be banned? Both types of death are terrible and it would be nice if they did not happen. All I know is that human beings do stupid and senseless things everywhere in the world.

Yes Clifford, I mean really, what did you expect people to say, kind of obvious, right? So are 1,000,001 other things you or me or anyone else can post that is as bad and worse in the nation and world, like David Miller stated. Lots of life can't be controlled, sheet happens. Sounds like a more appropriate place to post on your social media page if you want to virtue signal and play politics. 

But let's play, my 2 cents, you brought it up. This is a parent personal responsibility issue and-or lack of parents. You say "VOTE". For what? "VOTE" for require 2 responsible parents? Biggie, yes! Chicago has ultra strict gun laws where I read lots of kids and people get innocently gunned down every day except criminals don't follow laws, darn! Ban? See point about criminals.

How many 4th floors are missing?

I noticed that the Downtown Grand doesn't have a fourth floor. I just assumed that it is for the same reason most hotels don't have a 13th floor (some do, but almost invariably, the hotel's offices are there), and that it was catering to an Asian clientele that thinks that 4 is bad luck.

The number 4 is considered bad luck in some Asian cultures.  Many hotels in Vegas skip the “40s” because of this. Cosmo goes from 39 to 50, I believe Aria does too. In fact I don’t think Cosmo has 24, 34, 54, 64 or 74.

Slight correction
That is 330 million US citizens with an address.
The homeless are not included, illegal entrants into this country are not included, those in prisons and jails are not included, and foreigners are not included.  Which puts the true total of people in the US at about 450 million.

There are 161 million registered voters per 2022 statistics, less than half of the 330 million.
