Which Vegas Hotel Has the Record for the Most Rebrandings and Renaming?

Okay, the Horseshoe used to be Bally's and before that, it was the MGM Grand. Which Vegas hotel has the record for the most rebrandings and renamings?

Great question! Fun one to jog the old memory and to research.

We suspected it might be OYO, about which we wrote recently. OYO is its ninth name and brand. It started as a Howard Johnson's Motor Lodge. Then came the Paradise, 20th Century, Treasury, Pacifica, Polynesian, San Remo, Hooters, and OYO.

And we were correct. No other extant Las Vegas hotel-casino comes even close.

As far as we can tell, next up is the Westgate with four: International, Hilton, LVH (Las Vegas Hilton), and Westgate.

The D has three: Sundance, Fitzgeralds, and the D. So does Downtown Grand: Honest John's, Lady Luck, and DTG. So does the STRAT: Vegas World, Stratosphere, the STRAT. So does Sahara: Bingo Palace, SLS, Sahara. So does Palace Station: the Casino, Bingo Palace, Palace Station. So does Silver Sevens: Continental, Terrible's, Silver Sevens. So does the Horseshoe, as you correctly state in the question: first MGM Grand, then Bally's, now Horseshoe.

If the Majestic is ever built, it will be the sixth name on that ill-fated lot on Convention Center Drive: Clarion, Royal Americana, Paddlewheel, Debbie Reynolds, Greek Isles, and Majestic. In that event, it would overtake Westgate for number two.

Majestic/Clarion/Debbie Reynolds

It never came to fruition, but in 1998 the World Wrestling Federation (now WWE) bought the Debbie Reynolds property and started converting it to a WWF-themed resort before scrapping the whole idea and selling it to the company that turned it into the Greek Isles.

SAN REMO

Stayed there once waayyyy back when. In a drunken fit, I remembered where the security guard stowed away the security golf cart key. Had a nice joy ride around the "grounds" before getting spotted, luckily there were no video camera's back then so I outran security back to my room before they could see which one I was staying at. Have.....never.....dranken.....Jagermeister.....since!!

Add a fourth to Linq

Linq, Quad & Imperial Palace has been mentioned as a ‘3’, but before imperial Palace, that location was known as the Flamingo Capri.
I remember it well – it was the first casino I ever played at and stayed at.

LVH

The article states the Westgate was LVH which I believe stands for Las Vegas Hotel. This was the name after the Hilton brand was dropped.
