Question of the Day - 19 August 2018

Q:

With all the consolidation of the casino industry, how many casinos in Las Vegas, particularly the Strip, are owned by one person?

A:

On the Strip proper, Phil Ruffin owns Treasure Island, Alex Meruelo owns SLS, and Margaret Elardi (93 years old and going strong) owns Casino Royale. Farther south on Las Vegas Blvd., Michael Gaughan is sole owner of South Point and Ed Roski, Jr., owns Silverton.

Derek Stevens owns the downtown D Las Vegas and Golden Gate, and is building a 777-room hotel-casino with his brother Greg. Terry Caudill owns Four Queens and Binion's and Kenny Epstein owns El Cortez.

We're pretty sure that's all of them. Let us know if we missed anyone.

Adelson does not own a casino
The Venetian and Palazzo are owned by the Las Vegas Sands Corporation, which is a publicly traded company. Adelson is the majority shareholder at 53%, but he does not own the casinos.

    I own the Monte Carlo
...and I'm going to implode it and turn the grounds into a water park. Should have done it years ago.
