Question of the Day - 12 July 2018

Q:

I need some suggestions as to where I can take my 19-year-old grandson when we come out this month for a family memorial. Can you provide me with a list of the places of interest that I may take him to.

A:

Actually, he can do anything that doesn’t involve gambling or drinking. And if he’s never been to Vegas before, just about anything he sees or does will be new and fun for him.

Here’s a quickie list of 21 ideas off the top of our heads, from free to expensive:

A ride up and down the Strip

The Mirage volcano and Bellagio fountain show

Fremont Street Experience canopy show and downtown scene

A walk through casinos (so he can see what he can do in a couple years)

Shark Tank at the Golden Nugget

Pinball Hall of Fame

eSports at Neonopolis or Luxor

Neon Museum

A ride through Red Rock Canyon

VR Adventures at the LINQ Promenade

Roller coaster at New York-New York

Any buffet

Mac King show

High Roller Ferris wheel

Vegas Indoor Skydiving

Top of the Eiffel Tower

Madame Tussaud Wax Museum

Rio or Fremont Street ziplines

Rides at the top of the Stratosphere Tower

Any Cirque du Soleil Show

Helicopter ride over the Strip

We’re sure QoDers have more ideas, which we’d like to hear.

    You mised a few?
The Titanic Exhibit. The two "creepy" bodies exhibits. The Atomic Testing Museum. The Bellagio Flower Conservatory. The Ethyl M. candy factory. Trips to the Grand Canyon. Hard Rock Cafe. Mt. Charleston. That Western town "Bonnie Springs Ranch" (Is it still there?) Lake Mead raft trips. A gondola ride. Fremont St. concerts, performers, and the light show. The Marvel Exhibit at T.I. The aquariums at Mandalay Bay and The Forum Shops and animated Statue. Now what else did I miss?

    More
O.K. I duplicated "Downtown" attractions, but how could I forget the Hoover Dam? It is awesome and those giant "electrodes and generators" look like something out of a sci-fi movie. You must take the inside trip inside the dam. It's so worth it!

    51's?
Nobody mentioned going to a baseball game? The 51's are usually great entertainment for any age.

cars, the Wayner, Beatles, river raft
    1. The Shelby Museum (classic cars);
    2. The LinQ (formerly IP) used to have a classic car display, but not sure if this still exists.
    3. The Wayne Newton 'ranch', I think they have tours.
    4. If LOVE is still playing at Mirage and he likes Beatles music.
    5. Definitely Hoover Dam combined with the guided raft tour down Black Canyon. Half a day of great sights, boxed lunch midway along. Best thing we ever did in all the years of visits. They pick you up at your hotel and take you back afterwards (as with most tours).

    Great ideas
Pretty much everything I can think of has been mentioned. But I just want to put in a second plug for the Shark Reef Aquarium at Mandalay Bay - truly outstanding!
Also another plug for the Atomic Testing Museum - very well done.
